I enjoyed the breakfast sandwich and green juice. Service was not the best but OK. I loved the relaxing and historic ambiance.

I usually don't do another review on a place so soon, but my first visit was awesome and my second visit was equally amazing.
Again, easy to get a seat. Great service. Funny, engaging guy. Not too loud. Great music at a reasonable volume. If you go with friends, you'll be able to actually converse.
I had the steak frites, served differently than I've ever had it. The meat was sliced very thinly, but was so sumptuous, moist, and flavorful. It was bathed in a peppercorn glaze. The frites, of course, were their famous hot, crispy fries that are on many "New York Best" lists.
Cocktails all complex, creative, and smashing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jun 29, 2024Previous reviewI won't lie. I love the Golden Diner. At some point I've said their burger is the best burger I've ever had in my life. And it's still up there, with it's mushroom gochujang sauce and scallion bun.
But when they told me as a party of one, the wait was an hour, it was "see you guys later."
I set my GPS to head back to my hotel, deciding to stop into any place that looked interesting along the way. I came across the Corner Bar. Immaculate, bright, and empty.
Service was immediately welcoming. I was the first person inside (it did get busier later).
This spot has a simple, yet refined menu: some oyster dishes, shrimp cocktail, basic salads and smoked salmon. Lunch entrees include a club sandwich, a sea trout dish, a Nicoise tuna dish, a sasso chicken dish.
They also have the Corner Bar Burger, which is only listed on the menu by title, with no description or ingredients (the server will explain it to you). I can't remember the specifics, but I remember pickles and raw onion and some type of sexy sauce. And since I had originally gone to Golden Diner for a burger, this is where I landed.
Let me tell you, that burger was SEXY. While different than The Golden Diner (I love them both in different ways), this was the burger I didn't know I needed. It was soooooooo good. Juicy, flavorful, bursting with flavor. I am glad the wait time was so long at the other place, otherwise I would have never discovered this spot.
The cocktails were great too. The watermelon and rhubarb (gin, rhubarb, watermelon, pineau des charentes, citrus) was light and airy and refreshing. The pineapple highball, made with matchbook "ritual sister" pineapple, blended scotch, fresh pineapple, ginger, and club soda, was savory, with a hint of sweet, and sexy.
I had a couple of servers, all wonderful, but one was more amazing than all the others (I wish I had his name, a very personable young Black man who gave me great recs and always made sure I was taken care of). I asked him how he felt about the spicy and bright, and he told me it used to be his favorite drink, but the formula was changed, and it was quite spicy now (that's fine with me, but wasn't what I was looking for at the time). He took it upon himself to make me a modified version, and it was tasty.
I really appreciated his special attention to me and the brightness he added to my experience. Again, all service was amazing, but he stood out to me.
I love you, Golden Diner, but I'm glad your popularity led me to this place! - Sep 7, 2024
Excellent ambiance in the proper dining room as well as the cocktail bar. The bar dining room is a bit noisy and crowded, and would suggest not dining in this room if you want to have a clearer conversation with your fellow diners. The service is excellent, and our waters were refilled whenever it seemed necessary. The food was really wonderful- we both had the duck for dinner, and it was juicy and not too firm. The smoky peach was an amazing touch to that dish. Would return to try more appetizers, and dessert!

I love it here, it had very nice atmosphere and foods are great. We had some cocktails which were stylish and delicious then Broccolini, Stake tartare, Clams and pomodoro with red wine, finished with tiramisu. All of them are really good. Pomodoro was just perfect, they use bucatini which was perfectly al dente, tiramisu was so good!

I grew up in this neighborhood and this building was always under scaffolding for at least the last 10 years. So what a surprise when it finally came down and it was a hotel! Truthfully this place was good but overpriced. Service was good and the place is nice.
We came here looking for the shrimp cocktail and the steak au poivre. To our surprise neither was on the menu anymore. So we went with the fruit de mer and the steak special of the day which was a chargrilled ribeye.
The seafood platter was delicious and fresh. Great oysters as mussels. The steak was a bit too charred and the rosemary was a bit too overpowering. But overall it was good. The fries were delicious.
We ending the night with the pineapple sorbet which tastes like a fancy Dole Whip.
Overall the place is a bit overpriced for what it is but there was nothing inherently wrong. Would I come back? Probably just for the sorbet and cocktails. For the price point, I've had better elsewhere and that's ultimately what it comes down to.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Dec 13, 2023
Solid 3.5-4 stars.
Despite the fat not being more rendered on the duck, it was still delicious.
The crème brûlée is silky and smooth, with a nice sugar brûlée crust.
I also got the shrimp cocktail which is just okay. Not nearly as juicy and plump as other places.
They're very attentive and nice, plus the restaurant is pretty!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stephanie P.Cincinnati, OH16912928Jun 17, 2024
Great place to stop in for happy hour! The oysters were so fresh and the service was lovely!

This was excellent. First visit, we got the oysters rockefeller, beets, spaghetti pomodoro, bolognese, steak au poivre, french fries, sorbet, and profiterole.
Everything was great, with the pomodoro being the surprise star of the night (it was a last minute add for us) -- it was really amazing, despite the time of year, and I think the sauce was a cheesier sauce that had some thickness to it, which we really loved. The oysters and profiterole are probably also musts for next time, but really every dish was excellent.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 15, 2022
I think the current star average does not do this restaurant justice, but it is probably a result of the low number of reviews thus far! I had the opportunity to visit with some friends and tried most items on the menu. The overall consensus was that while the menu was not very creative, all dishes were executed to a high level with delicious results, which warrants a 5 star review!
Standouts include the steak, the chicken entree (best chicken dish I have had since Crown Shy), and the foie gras. The service was also attentive, which the servers taking care to properly course out everything ordered with good pacing.
One hiccup was that the restaurants ordering software glitched out and the bar did not get our drink orders until much later into the meal, which was frustrating but I think was not the restaurant's fault (although it did happen to other tables too from overhearing). Other note is that the pricing is definitely not cheap, so probably better for a special occassion or night out!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Apr 6, 2024
Way too over priced for what it is. But the Pomodora pasta is delic! The wine pours are super weak, & the wine list is really pricey. Very average dining experience, you don't need to add it to your list. The service isn't very good either.
