Jewel-Osco

Decent for what it is. From where I live, I have a few grocery options:
- City Target: definitely not for weekly grocery needs
- Whole Foods: closer to my place, but obviously higher prices. Usually we end up here for a quick meal or a beer over grocery shopping
- Jewel on Southport: this one feels like it has less produce and some staff members that are not as friendly
- Costco: love it but a bit too far and hard to shop at since we don't have a car

It's a weekly visit for us, but there are other chain groceries I wish we had instead. Not Mariano's, that's gone way downhill and I usually prefer Jewel to that, but I would love to have a Pete's or Cermak or Tony's instead.

Sometimes random produce is sold out like kale, and for some reason I've never seen arugula here. But hey, it's still a Jewels so you know you at least can get some great chicken wings and Cheep Chicken on Monday. It gets busy since it serves a pretty large area but overall it works for getting us our weekly needs.

Ashland..........Unprofessional and Egregious staff and Management as well as this store never answers their phone and when doing so puts you on terminal hold......new Store Manager Igor is equally unprofessional and non-customer service oriented. And Customers BEWARE This Store Falsely Invoices customer's credit cards!!! Horrible Store reviews deservingly earned....Best to stay away from this store who evidently detests its customers.

This store deserves numerous negative stars as evidenced by the Abundant Negative reviews................

Rude employee answers phone call complaints and puts your call on terminal hold.
Often lot of items needed are out of stock.
Called for online order and delivery scheduled for between 3PM - 4PM and still not delivered at 7:10 PM.
if I had a choice of less than 1 star it still would be too much for such incompetence.

This store has an amazing selection of so many different products. I wish it was closer to my home. The one star is for a particular customer service representative that made pretty off hand remarks about my returns. Very unhelpful and disheartening. Ambience was clean and again lots of variety.

Scam artist price on the shelf never rings up the same WHOOPS worst produce extremely over priced everything even with the so called sales Chicagos worst grocery stores

Trash employees.
Trash Customers.
Save yourself the hassle and go out of your way to another location.

It's ok for two reasons: curbside pickup and Boar's Head products. If Mariano's sold Boar's Head, I would never shop at Jewel.

What's annoying is that there's no rhyme or reason to when you can modify an order you've placed. Sometimes it's midnight the same day; sometimes it's a particular hour of the next day. I called to ask if I could add the onion and pepper I forgot in the order I am picking up this evening and they said no (it's 9:42 am as I type this; pickup is after 5 pm). I forgot a thing or two at Mariano's once and they were happy to add it if they had the item in stock.

Also annoying that I could place an order right now, for pickup at the exact same time I'm already scheduled to pick up, but their system has no way to recognize that I already have an order over the minimum that perhaps I could add to. I'm in the app; it's me (I mean, somehow it recognizes me because it says my order is pending). We know the tech is available because Target even advertises it as an option, which makes sense, because why wouldn't a store want more of your money?

Anyway. I hope Jewel Corporate can make their tech and process more sophisticated like some of their competitors.

Management and employees repeatedly allow customers to walk dogs throughout the store unchallenged (and no, not service dogs). I'm a dog owner myself, and love dogs, but there's a good reason why this is a violation of city codes.

things were fine but me and my handsome boyfriend went in a little, let's just say, "hazier" than usual and the clerk made an example out of us in front of everyone at jewel. it started with sub par dry humor but escalated into taking complete advantage of our states of mind. we left the store that night feeling less of ourselves. besides that the store seemed fine and they got decent fruit deals.

Today was my last day shopping at this Jewel. Rain was pouring down and the employees were locking the doors on the north end of the store at 5:30. Unacceptable
