Pop Pop Thai Street Food "popped up" in one of those best Thai food lists and got my attention. It is a sleepy restaurant in a strip mall type of place. The inside is basic and moderately decorated. Most folks got take-out instead of dine-in when we were there. The staff almost seemed surprise that we were staying. Nonetheless the service was just fine. The menu is more average Thai than street-food Thai. Maybe we go to many restaurants, so it's hard to find new-to-us dishes in a menu. Every dish looked "normal". It's not a bad thing, just didn't live up to the restaurant name. I will say their prices are a bit lower than the average greater Seattle area. Their entrees also include jasmine rice, which many places charge you extra. +0.5 stars for their prices. This is a fine neighborhood restaurant. Go if you live nearby. It's not worth traveling to it though (like we did).
Pork Spring Rolls, $4.95 - 3 Stars
Two plum and well-stuffed spring rolls. Fairly average.
Tom Yum Soup, $11.95 - 3.5 Stars
This is the fried tofu version. They didn't have non-fried tofu or shrimp version. It was a flavorful soup. Again, fairly average but also nothing wrong with it.
Pop Pop Fried Rice with pork, $13.25 - 3.5 Stars
A big plate of pork and rice, well-seasoned and flavored.
Kao Soi, $15.95 - 2 Stars
This dish is a signature dish for many mom & pop restaurants. This dish is not as good as others. The curry broth was more liquid-y and lacked the nose-tinkling aroma; the broth was insufficient to properly coat the chicken and the noodles. Unfortunately, I have had better elsewhere.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 24, 2023
Before a soccer match, I was craving a simple dish like Khao Man Ghai and discovered that Pop Pop Thai seemed like a solid place to try KMG. I'm always impressed by how good this dish is based off its appearance. It's just an unassuming combo of chicken, rice, and soup but it's so delicious and the chicken is juicy and tender. The rice is good alone because it's cooked from chicken broth and completing the bite with the sauce and soup gives me LIFE! I also love that they have a spice rack that carries pickled jalapeños, spicy fish sauce, sambal, and fried chili flakes!
The cucumbers served with the kmg was very bitter and wasn't sure if it was supposed to be that way or just old... 4/5
My bf ordered the garlic chicken noodle and it came out hot and very flavorful. It was a little too fishy for me but I loved that it was a pad kee mao noodle and the dishes were so colorful. 4/5
Above all, the atmosphere was simple and the lady was tacit yet attentive. This is definitely a family run business that I will continue to support.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - May 4, 2023
This small strip-mall eatery has some good things going on, but it might be best to get your order to go. The dining area is small, noisy, and none too comfortable.
Service is pleasant and gracious, if constantly interrupted - the phones ring nonstop, and many people come and go grabbing takeout orders.
We tried their fish cake appetizer, and though the dipping sauce was good the cakes were gummy and puck-like, with more over-cooked egg flavor than fish. The two versions of their Pad Thai we sampled, one three- and one four-star, were not ketchup-y or over sweet, which is great, but the dishes were pretty under-spiced (both dishes barely made two-star heat). The sprouts were really fresh and crisp, though, which I really like.
Maybe we missed the stuff they do best..? I don't know, but they are screamingly popular and busy busy busy. You can certainly do worse...but you can certainly do better. I like this place, despite some misses on the plate, and might try some non-Pad Thai offerings in the future.
Recommended? Ya, sure, ya betchya, but get it to go.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jun Li Z.Seattle, WAAug 18, 2023
I have ordered takeouts here a handful of times before.
Ordered the fish cake and the pad kee mao with extra Chinese broccoli.
I'd order the fish cakes again as they're pretty tasty.
The pad kee mao was extra salty. When I got home, it tasted as if they poured 3-5x the amount of soy sauce or salt in there. I barely had 15% of it without feeling as if I had my week's worth of salt intake in two to three bites. I was very disappointed. I don't know what happened but when I ordered their dishes before it was pretty standard and decent.
I have had their kao soi and that was decent but that was pre-pandemic. Based on the saltiness of that one dish, I am not sure I'd come back to eat here. Maybe it was an off day for the chef but the saltiness is absolutely horrendous and unacceptable to serve to any customer.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 28, 2023
Pop pop Thai street food is located right across the street from LA fitness on aurora. Parking lot has a lot of space.
I was very impressed by how much flavor there was in each dish I've tried here. The classic pad Thai, pad see ew, whatever your choice may be you will not be disappointed. If you need extra hot sauce, ask the server and they will bring you a little tray of hot sauces.
My favorite dish here is the Kao Soi. It tastes like it was made with so much love and just had the right texture in every bite. The chicken that comes with dish is seasoned so well and the side of red onions, chili oil, and pickled veggies... yum. It was so filling !!
Spice levels: 1-5 stars!
The workers were so kind and very helpful when making decisions on dishes.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Apr 10, 2022
When visiting the Seattle area a few weekends ago, my husband and I were craving Thai food. We spotted Pop Pop Thai on the map near our Airbnb so we ordered ahead online before heading that way.
When we ordered, the online order screen said it would be ready in 30 minutes, so we showed up in about 35 minutes just to be safe. Unfortunately, our food wasn't ready - you could tell they were busy with a lot of takeout orders; however, it took another 25 minutes for it to come out. For that reason, I have to take off 1 star.
We ordered the crab rangoons, the panang curry, and the drunken noodles - we order Thai food all the time so we were super excited to dig in. However, the crab rangoons looked like they were just thrown together (they were misshapen) and were just okay, the curry was pretty watery - not super creamy like other curries I've really liked in the past, but still had good flavor - and the drunken noodles were super soggy - again, good flavor, just super weird texture.
With all of that said, we sadly weren't super impressed with Pop Pop Thai but would be willing to try it again on a less busy night.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 20, 2023
Very enjoyable experience at Pop Pop in Bitter Lake. Food was tasty, came quickly and portions were generous. We had a papaya salad (definitely for sharing) and an entree each. We took some home because it was too much to eat! The service was efficient - it wasn't busy, but our server made sure we had plenty of water and our food was to our liking. Don't expect fantastic ambiance - there are a lot of supplies piled up in a corner of the space, but it is clean and I have no complaints. It's a nice neighborhood small business. Recommended.

We came a few minutes before closing and they were kind enough to still take our takeout order. It only took 10mins for them to prepare the order. The braised pork leg was so tender. There was a broth on the side, and I liked dunking the pork in the broth for maximum juice and flavor. The greens were just steamed & pickled. Nothing to write home about, but balanced the meal. The pad thai was good - my husband enjoyed it. Would definitely come back to try more dishes next time.

Food was just ok compared to previous years. I ordered the Kao Mun Gai (KMG) and Shrimp Stir Fry Veggies (SSFV).
KMG was good albeit there was barely any chicken. The clear soup that accompanied the chicken was tasty - clean, simple and pairs well with the dish. The SSFV was disappointing. I like the veggies they used but felt that the vegetables were slightly over cooked. The sauce also had a sweeter profile - which is not to my liking. The biggest disappointment was that the stir fry came with 3 or 4 shrimps and was packed in those large plastic container when the food was only halfway filled lol.
Not sure what to expect as the total was $32 for both dishes. But I do feel like 3 shrimps for an entree is a robbery.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
