In 1998, there lay a vacant lot with three vacant houses. The land was prime, yet undeveloped, and the houses were set to be demolished. Our founders set out to save the houses -- picking them up, bringing them here, and building a restaurant from them. After many months of hard work, their dreams became a reality and The Spot was born. Over the past two decades, we've been on a mission to deliver "Beachfront Day and Night Done Right." Whether it's their first time on Galveston Island or they're seasoned locals, our guests come for our mouthwatering burgers, locally sourced seafood, and homemade desserts. In fact, nearly everything we serve is made in house every day. From hand-dipped onion rings to gulf shrimp breaded to order, we take flavor seriously. Plus our fun, family atmosphere and commitment to fast, friendly service keeps guests coming back. Five Venues. One Spot. All Beachfront. Discover Island Famous.…

We came to the island for an event and needed a quick meal. We drove to the spot, found parking across the street, super easy. Their parking lot is full but there is a garage in the back and plenty of street parking for free.

We decided to sit on the ocean side. Got menus and went to the counter to order. We selected the sampler platter. Found seating upstairs facing the water. Such beautiful views. The food arrived and everything was good except the fried pickles were way too salty. We enjoyed the mozzarella cheese sticks and the bacon wrapped shrimp.

Cute place with a huge selection and good pricing.

We came to The Spot because everyone in Galveston says it's the best place.

      Let's get into it.

Ambiance: The set up of the restaurant is very overcrowded with the tables and chairs being almost intertwined to the point where you have to walk sideways to move through the restaurant. There are birds and flies... in groups... everywhere... on the ground, on the chairs, on the tables, and yes... trying to get your food at all times. It was unsettling, uncomfortable, and felt very unsanitary.

Service: the service was okay. Nothing great, nothing bad. I don't have much to say about it.

Food: so they brought me the wrong burger the first time (the sweet and spicy burger) which looked very good but it is not what I ordered. I forgot to take a picture of my correct burger but I got the King burger. I really hate to say this but it was awful. The meat was not seasoned with so much as salt or pepper. It was so greasy on the bottom that the bottom bun was disintegrating as I picked it up.. the fries were decent. We also had fried pickles in the beginning that were solid.

Drinks: my partner ordered a frozen mango margarita that came as liquidy as juice. I ordered a spicy margarita that had a chemical taste.

I would not come back, however, keep in mind I might be the unpopular opinion.

There is a missed opportunity here for the restaurant's management team. I decided to try this place after hearing that it was a fun place to eat pre-cruise. The location is perfect, and there is an ample amount of parking. The decor and aesthetics of the place are on point. The food was amazing! It was hot and cooked perfectly. However, the staff missed the mark on this day. It seemed like they could care less if we were there or not. They did not seem happy to be there at all. It was so odd that I asked one of the workers if they were the weekday staff? He said the weekend is a bit more lively ( I dined on Wednesday).

I think this place would have a higher rating if the vibe and attitude of the crew were better. This place has so much potential. It's the food that's making me give this place one more chance. I hear good stuff. Hopefully, my next visit is a bit more pleasant.

Fun "Spot" with solid food. I enjoyed the coconut shrimp and the queso was delicious despite them being a little skimpy on the chips. We were hoping for a table with a view but it's difficult to find a table especially if you have kids in tow so we ended up in an empty room upstairs which was ok. The marg of the month was tasty. Overall, pretty good food. Just be prepared that it's a popular place and you may have a hard time finding a place to sit.

This establishment was literally just a few feet from the Holiday Inn Express where we were staying. I loved that it had separate sections for families with kids and adults only. When we first arrived, there wasn't anyone there to seat us and we weren't sure where to go. We asked someone and were told about the sections and that we could also dine upstairs. However when we went upstairs, there were no servers so we went back downstairs and grabbed a booth. There the service was excellent and the food simple and good, very well prepared, satisfying and reasonably priced. The music and decor created an eclectic vibe. Highly recommend for both couples and families.

The service was awesome. Our waitress and her team were on point. The food was quick and tasty the drinks were good. And the beach scene was exactly what we needed.

Different set up. You order at the station then they bring your food to you. We had a party of 28, very organized. Sat upstairs. Another beautiful view! We ordered the sampler which was amazing. The fish was so moist, the coconut shrimp was our favorite but the bacon wrapped as nice as well. Thin onion rings plus waffle fries for sides. All 3 sauces were nice. Way too much to share, we took a togo box back to the hotel.

Loved visiting the Spot in Galveston! It had been years since I have eaten here, but the quality and service were just as good as I remember. I had the fish and chips, which were classically good. It was my first time sitting on the top balcony, but the weather was perfect and the view of the water and Pleasure Pier were great.

Went here on a nice Sunday in Galveston. I was in a grilled shrimp mood and they were delicious. I like that they came on top of a bed of rice to add an extra side. The grilled vegetables were a little disappointing, think they could pick better stuff. But overall the spot is a great place to sit, eat, drink and have an amazing view.

This is an interesting establishment, five venues at one location. We went last Sunday to watch the Texans. The atmosphere was great, it was a beautiful day on the beach. Football fans were everywhere. Great happy hour selections!

Since we were waiting on a couple of our friends to arrive, we decided to order an appetizer big enough for a party of four. The appetizer came out room temperature. We decided not to order from the main menu for that reason.

The restroom in the bar area on the second floor needs attention. One working sink and 3/4 stalls function.

You can park in a lot for $10 on the weekend if the parking lot is at capacity (it's small ) or in the parking garage across the street. Unsure how much the parking garage is, but it's $15 if you're staying at the Holiday Inn Express next door.
