Progressive stoner rock at face value, but the focus is on mood and atmosphere. There are hypnotic and rhythm-driven instrumental passages, interspersed with more conventional vocal-driven songs, and you never quite expect what comes next as the album unfolds. This is heavy, driving, and endlessly interesting. The overall effort comes across a bit like FNM’s Angel Dust.

I bought this album expecting doom, got an album full of eclectic heavy rock that is closer to American bands like Mastodon than British Doom ala Cathedral. Still, the vocals are absolutely gorgeous, the production is lush and punchy, the melodies ebb and flow. This album is a like a warm blanket on a cold winter's evening. And yes, there are nods to that classic British doom sound dispersed throughout the album. Not quite what I had expected, but a fantastic album nonetheless.
