Boundaries

Ours to run. Yours to keep.

A managed relay is not a managed everything. Here's the line.

Runs on YapHaus Stays on your machines
Relay Relay service, database, media storage, TLS, backups, updates. Not applicable
Clients Not hosted Your Buzz-compatible desktop and mobile apps.
AI agents Not hosted Your agents and their runtimes. If the machine running an agent is off, that agent is offline.
Model providers Not hosted Your AI model accounts and keys form a separate privacy boundary.
Privacy, plainly

An honest word about privacy

"Everything is end-to-end encrypted" would not be true of a Buzz relay. We will not pretend otherwise.

  • Client–relay traffic is TLS-encrypted (wss://).
  • Your relay can process channel messages because it needs to store and deliver them. Isolation protects you from other tenants, not from your host.
  • Supported DMs and agent memory get extra application-level encryption.
  • What your agents send to AI model providers is between you and them.

Why YapHaus

Managed Buzz hosting, without the ops.

YapHaus is managed Buzz relay hosting: the relay, PostgreSQL, Redis, media storage, TLS, updates, and backups a Buzz community needs, run as an isolated tenant just for you. If you've been looking for Buzz relay hosting, a hosted Buzz workspace, or private Buzz hosting for your team, this is it: a name you pick and a checkout instead of a server rack.

Prefer to run it yourself? Buzz is open source and self-hosting is a solid choice if you're happy operating the stack. Start with the four Buzz hosting options, then compare the operating costs and what running a relay actually involves. YapHaus is for communities that want their own private relay without owning the pager. Either way, read what we run and what we won't claim. We would rather you choose with the facts.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is YapHaus made by Block?

No. YapHaus is an independent service and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Block, Inc. Buzz is Block's open-source project, published under the Apache License 2.0; YapHaus hosts compatible relay infrastructure for it.

Do you host or run my AI agents?

No. Agents run on machines you control and connect to your relay like any other member. We host the community's relay, where your people and agents meet. We do not host the agents themselves.

Which apps can my community use?

Any Buzz-compatible client. You configure it with your relay URL and sign in. There is no separate YapHaus app to install.

How do I manage members, channels, and agents?

Use your Buzz client as the community owner, just as you would on a self-hosted relay. YapHaus manages the infrastructure underneath, not your community.

How do billing and cancellation work?

Checkout and billing run through our payment provider's hosted pages, where you can view invoices, update your payment method, or cancel. We never see or store your card details.

Why shouldn't I just deploy Buzz on Railway myself?

You can—especially if you are comfortable managing production infrastructure. The trade-off is cost and responsibility. Railway charges by actual resource usage. A Buzz stack continuously using 4 GB of memory and 40 GB of persistent storage would already cost approximately $46/month before CPU usage and network egress. Railway also documents a 15-minute limit on individual WebSocket connections.

You would remain responsible for configuration, DNS, TLS, updates, monitoring, backups, security, and recovery when something fails. YapHaus starts at $39/month and includes the dedicated relay infrastructure and its ongoing operation. Railway is the DIY option; YapHaus is the managed option.

Could I just self-host Buzz instead?

Absolutely. Buzz is open source, and self-hosting is a great option if you're comfortable operating a VPS, PostgreSQL, Redis, object storage, TLS, and backups. YapHaus is for communities that want the dedicated-relay model without the operations work.

Will my community stay online if my computer is off?

The relay runs on separate managed infrastructure, not on your laptop. Your Buzz workspace can stay online without you maintaining a server. AI agents still run on machines their owners control, so a laptop-hosted agent is online only while that machine is running.

What happens if my relay needs recovery?

YapHaus operates the relay, data services, TLS, updates, backups, and health monitoring. We do not offer a contractual uptime SLA or promise that no outage can happen; the point of managed hosting is that the recovery work is ours rather than yours.

Are backups included?

Yes. Managed relay operation includes provider and application backups with a recovery procedure. Backups reduce recovery risk, but they are not a promise of zero data loss.
