They Never Told Us
02:54
Born under red skies, living hand-to-mouth. We had each other, two kids against the world. They never told us this would be life. They never told us, born into the strife. Did I ever tell you? When our parents were killed, I knew we’d be okay. Brother and sister, hand-in-hand. There have been bad times, but some have been good. Born under red skies. Born to be the brood taking over the world.

Smoke
02:19

It took thousands of years for humanity to grow. Brutality and fears, a painful lesson to know. It’s all up in smoke. Acceleration destination. Why did they have to hurry? Instead of feeling elation, they burned out with the worry.

Independents Day
01:49

I remember the stories they told before shit really fell apart. Nobody seemed to get along while they still had a running start. Everything was melting. Everything was burning. Everything was confusing … and then the bombs went off. It all fell apart on Independents Day.

Where The Bad Folks Go
01:53
We were two kids living in the weeds, hiding from the wolves, in torn-up streets. “Put ‘em down, where the bad folks go.” Mom and dad tried to keep us safe. What can you do when it’s all too late? Every threat into a hole to be filled. In a failed state, average people kill.

Short-Term Memories
02:07
You told me you’d never leave. You’d be by my side through it all, day-by-day in the long slide, toward a hastening fall. It’s funny how soon we forget the good old days, the sunshine, when we’re living day-by-day in the long slide. We’ve got a short-term memory.

Lower and Lower
02:02
They came and went, in and out of the light, buzzing all around us. Hiding in plain sight. We hid from the eyes in the sky. Lower and lower. They lied in wait until we went lower and lower. It happened so fast when they took someone out. The last thing you heard was a resigned shout. I remember this kid. His name was Seth. Three circled for an hour, before he finally met Death.

No Infrastructure
02:06
I often wonder to myself: how did we get here? Did it happen slowly? Or were there signs? Was anybody really in charge? Could they really not see what was happening in front of them? Look at us now. We don’t have any infrastructure. We live like rats in tunnels, deep underground. Hiding from their drones. Hiding from their past mistakes. I know for a fact that if I ever have kids I’ll teach them to appreciate the small things in life: fresh air, fresh water, fresh food. Freshness. Infrastructure.

The Long Slide
02:23
I lived for you, you lived for me, for each other through catastrophe. I’d do anything for you, sis. Through thick and thin. Living through the worst times. Living through the long slide. In a dozen years, hoped we’d be hanging out. Hoped we’d survive that bullshit. Wanted to live above ground again. Just wanted to see the sky. Just wanted to taste the rain. Wanted to know if there was any left, I guess.

Good Intentions
02:14
Funny, in retrospect, how naïve we were. Thought together we’d get through it, but cruelty loves a vacuum. So many sociopaths. So many manipulators. So many selfish assholes. They all got together and ruined everything. They organized and organized. Exploited and exploited. That’s when we learned you can only trust a handful of folks, at most. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Slow-Motion Explosion
02:28
We had to have hope. It was all we could have. We once lived under red skies, then once underground. We outlasted the drones but now we’re on The Upside. Where can we go from here? Set back for so long. What else could we do? So many lost skills, but now we’re starting fresh. We are a slow-motion explosion. Do we do it all again? Build a tribe, build an empire, build another monument of excess, build ourselves another tomb? Only one way to find out.
