Where is that which I sought?

Palms raised
to the clouds above
hanging fat with manna.
Low sun
in platinum haze
glittering on the sand.
Gnashed teeth
a recitation of
delicate spells unfolds.
Tears swirl
towards a whisper…
echoing…
forever.

Vague, grey prayers, like needles
break my skin.
Strange visions pulse
in waves.
Soothsayers sing in this
house of sand.

Their litany seduces me.

A chorus of everything

I feel golden waves crashing over me,
the velvet heavens droning rhythmically.
I see portals breathing but still empty.
Singing of an end that seems unending.

And to these dreams I cling desperately.
Weakly.
Prophetically.

We are never free.
Defined by time and elegy.
By sonnets dripping in faith and ecstasy
and never any truth or clarity.

And so I’ll sing in reverie.
A soothsayer harmonising entropy.

To forget…
