about
Coming from the twosome Suzumeno Tears is this eclectic folk song 'Zaraita Bushi' - a 'washboard' song sung by the laundress at Yokohama port, opened in 1859. In this new recording by the pair, 'Zaraita Bushi' is mashed up with an old Bulgarian folk song called “Prala Nachka” from Pazardzhik, which is also a song about a girl doing the laundry. During the pandemic, Miyuki was looking for undiscovered folk songs from Yokohama, where she resides, and this song came up. At a band rehearsal following the long pandemic restrictions, Miyuki introduced the song for a new repertoire to Agatha, who did all the gorgeous musical arrangements for this track. Taking an immediate liking to the song, Agatha asked Miyuki if she knows any Bulgarian songs about the same theme, laundry. Being originally a Bulgarian folk singer, Miyuki sang “Prala Nachka” for her and the two songs were connected instantly through a gently strummed guitar part.
