Compromised 05:00
Can we carry on this tug of war If you won’t stop letting go of the rope It slips to the ground and I stumble and fall Swallowing dirt as I roll down the slope I try to stand with the rope at my feet You mock me as I lose my balance again Maybe I should accept my defeat Coming back for more I must be insane We fought too hard to make it work Too hard to let it go But you won’t tell me what you need And I'm losing all control Now it seems the more I give The more you pull away And every promise we make we break And I’m running out of words to say Still we play this game of make-believe Tell the lies to each other’s eyes But it’s time we realised We’re too compromised Feel the tension reaching breaking point Suspended in equilibrium There’s no weakness left to exploit The fantasy becomes delirium We fought too hard to make it work Too hard to let it go But you won’t tell me what you need And I'm losing all control Now it seems the more I give The more you pull away And every promise we make we break And I’m running out of words to say Still we play this game of make-believe Tell the lies to each other’s eyes But it’s time we realised We’re still compromised We fought so hard to make it work But I've got to let you go Cos you can't tell me what you need So I'm taking back control I've got nothing left to give And I need to walk away Our last promise was make or break And there's really nothing left to say I won't play this game of make believe No more lies to each other's eyes Cos it's time we realised We're too compromised We’re too compromised We’re too compromised And it’s time we realised We’re too compromised

I've woken up to ice and snow Think I'll have a coffee before I go Try to think things through I'm all used up But, hey, that's nothing new I'll keep coming back Coming back for more I'll keep coming back Coming back for more I was there when you needed a friend You don't need me now So please don't pretend Your eyes like a stranger Deep pools without end In which I keep falling Down, down, down Eyes like a stranger Deep pools without end In which I keep falling In which I keep falling In which I keep falling Down, down, down Try to escape, try to break free The weight of my hope is pressing down on me I'm a prisoner of reason, of empathy As God is my witness I have enough rope Enough rope To take me down To take me down To take me down Take me down I was there when you needed a friend You don't need me now So please don't pretend Your eyes like a stranger Deep pools without end In which I keep falling Down, down, down Eyes like a stranger Deep pools without end In which I keep falling In which I keep falling In which I keep falling Down, down, down Take me down I keep falling down Deeper and deeper Rescue me Oh rescue me

I used to count on you While you were keeping score A simple game of numbers All my indiscretions accounted for Every moment made to measure One by one we weigh the cost Tip the scales in your favour Sense of balance is all but lost Believe what you want to believe But I’m not your enemy There’s no turning back for us The lines have long been crossed You turned the world against me That’s not the real me Your words stick to me like shadows Sneaking by my side (Shadows by your side) Twisted replicas of me Misconstrued by your design (Fiction blurs the lines) In this game of whispers No one wins if no one lies I’m reaching out to you Across the battleground Can we negotiate a truce In this war of words and sound What you see is what you get So what do you think it is you see? Distractions making demons Where the angels used to be You think you’ve knocked me from my cloud But I let you keep me down Looking through a single eye Won’t change what you perceive I’m not trying to deceive That’s not the real me Your words stick to me like shadows Sneaking by my side (Shadows by your side) Twisted replicas of me Misconstrued by your design (Fiction blurs the lines) In this game of whispers No one wins if no one lies Breakdown in communication Deceit becomes an addiction Breakdown in communication Deceit becomes an addiction Your words stick to me like shadows Sneaking by my side (Shadows by your side) Twisted replicas of me Misconstrued by your design (Fiction blurs the lines) In this game of whispers No one wins if no one lies They stick to me like shadows Twisted replicas of me In this game of whispers No one wins if no one lies

A GAME OF WHISPERS features 12 tracks which epitomise the band’s contemporary progressive rock and melodic metal sound. The album explores the consequences of toxic relationships and communication breakdown, weaving those emotional beats into sonic tapestries which thread the lines between beauty and intensity. It includes the debut single “Compromised”, “Take Me Down” (featuring guests Philip Stuckey and Ruby Jones), and the eponymous “A Game of Whispers” (winner of Prog Tracks Of The Week 8-15 September).
