Diana Mordasini was born in Saint-Louis, Senegal, then the capital of French West Africa. Her great grandmother, she said, was visited by Governor Faidherbe. Her father, Prince of Sine-Saloum, Diakhao and Ndoukoumane, was in charge of the Senegalese parcel service during the colonial period. He was one of the founding members of the Socialist Party and then became an administrative and financial officer of the National Assembly, mayor of a major town in Saoum and finally an ambassador. Diana Mordasini studied classical literature in the Sorbonne. After some time spent in the fashion industry, she became head of the international relations section of the Omnia press agence in Milan, from 1972 until 1976, where she was responsible for the "Arts and Culture" column of the daily bulletin. She is a journalist and has lived in Switzerland for more than twenty years.
