Marie Rose Turpin N'Dao was born in Kaolack, in Senegal, in 1957 and lived with her mother as a child. She attended the Gaston Berger grammar school in Kaolack and then when she was 19 she went to the University of Dakar. Currently (early 1992) she works in the area of industrial advertising. She has three children and lives in Dakar with her family.
Publications
"HLM/P" in Trois Nouvelles [Three Short Stories]. Dakar: Les Nouvelles Editions Africaines, 1982, pp.31-68. This short story was awarded a prize in a Senegalese Ministry of Culture literary competition.
The local inhabitants of a very poor area must do their best to survive, but believing that the police are excessively zealous in the way that they constantly make their presence felt, they get together to try and rectify the situation.
