Delphine ZANGA TSOGO An author from Cameroon writing in French [Return to French — Page originale en français]

Delphine Zanga Tsogo (Mrs Tsanga) was born in 1935 in Lomié in the Cameroon. She went to the Douala secondary school for young girls until 1955 and then moved to Toulouse, where she obtained a State Nursing Diploma. In 1960 she returned to Cameroon where she worked in various hospitals.

Apart from her professional activities, Mrs Tsanga's political career has been exceptional. She was elected National President of the Council of Cameroonian Women in 1964, a Member of Parliament from 1965 to 1972, Vice Minister for Health and Public Welfare from 1970 to 1975 and has been Minister for Social Affairs since 1975. She is one of the first African women of her generation to reach such a top position in the world of politics.

This novel recounts the life and problems of Miss Dang, her constant search for a new job and the difficulties and misfortune faced by her.

Although this book is categorised as adolescent literature, it should also be of interest to adult readers.
After experiencing a brutal upbringing by her father, Ekobo believes that by marrying she has finally found her freedom. However, she falls prey instead to a dull-witted and uncompromising husband.
