I never heard the original, as I discovered the lads later in their career. I opted for this re-recording over the original release, and I don’t think I need to even go back to compare, this version right here is phenomenal!

a perfect showcase for extreme technical mastery, but unlike almost every other band at this level, the complexity and skill is not the point at all, everything is so focused on expression, emotion, energy... Converge is untouchable

This is my first real exposure to Deafheaven. I've always heard their name in the margins and have always been aware of their popularity. But, this just came along at the right time, I guess. I'm really liking this kind of metallic shoegaze-y thing right now. Maybe I'll check out some of their older stuff but I think this is really good. The deep tones, textures and atmosphere are absolutely top-shelf stuff
