Aleena Mukeer

Hi, I'm Aleena.

I study Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Northern British Columbia, and I graduate in 2027.

Most of what I work on is meant to be used by people in the room. On the Northern STARS robotics project I build activities that kids do with a robot, and at Northern Clinical Simulation I help set up the scenarios healthcare teams train on.

Northern STARS, summer camp

Robot Camp Games

Five games that kids played with a Reachy Mini robot at the Northern STARS summer camp. The robot watches, listens and reacts: it reads ArUco markers and body movement, runs games with buttons on a Raspberry Pi 5, and talks through a local LLM.

October 2026 · DEV Weekend Challenge

NOTE-IT

Built in a weekend with Ahad Ali Baig for the Hacktoberfest "Build for a Friend" challenge. Our friend Surraya, a fourth-year psychology student, couldn't read her own lecture notes. NOTE-IT sorts messy notes into key terms, theories, researchers and studies, turns them into flashcards and diagrams, and has a Study Buddy chatbot with Tutor, Peer and Examiner modes. It runs Gemma 3 locally, so her notes never leave her laptop.

CKPG Today: inside UNBC's Spark Lab

CKPG's Campus Connections toured UNBC's Spark Lab, and we demoed Memory Matrix, one of the robot games we built for summer camp. I talked about the research behind it: about 200 kids played our games at camp, and we're studying the game logs and videos to improve how children and robots interact, so systems like this can one day work in classrooms.
