about

We live in an amazing world: The wonderful variety of plants, animals, and people is truly inspirational. That’s what gives Chris Meyer of Alias Zone hope, despite the efforts of some to cover swaths of our planet with concrete and asphalt, or to segregate people by their race, religion, or who they love. Paradise Lost comments on these topics musically, from the pleas of Buddhists in Tibet to the hopefulness of Native Americans making their pilgrimage on The Barefoot Trail to Zuni Heaven.
Chris’ main instruments were a pair of modular synthesizers he refers to as The Tardis and Pandora’s Box. He patched them to produce a wide array of tones, from plucked and struck to the previously unimagined, and supplemented them with other sounds.
Chris enlisted his long-time collaborators Richard Bugg and Lachlan Westfall to help realize his musical vision. He also used virtual session players: musicians and producers who have a musical vibe he likes, and who have created percussion, vocals, and sound effects that enrich the final soundscapes.
