As a loyal Accor member I was shocked by the state of this hotel

As a long-time loyal Gold member of Accor I’ve come to expect a certain level of service and reliability—but my most recent stay was a real shock. From the moment I arrived, things felt off. Check-in was incredibly slow and staff not particularly friendly. This could be due to lack of staff and the place been busy so that is understandable. What really surprised me was that the lift was still out of order—the same lift that was broken during my last stay six months ago. How can such a major issue go unresolved for that long? Surely, it doesn't keep breaking down? Another issues was that my room wasn’t serviced every day during the stay. nce day we were out all day and came back at night to find it was still unserviced. We had to call down to reception just to get basic supplies, and even then, the response was slow and indifferent. I’ve always chosen this hotel because of the consistent quality and service, but this experience was far from what I expect as a loyal guest. It pains me to say this, but unless significant improvements are made, I’ll have to reconsider where I stay in the future. For people looking to stay, I would recommend somewhere else in the CBD just as I have done for my last visit. In fact, I have recently just booked for another work trip and have totally bypassed the Novotel. Interestingly, I never received an email from Accor asking to rate my stay so they may also be aware of the issues.

No working wifi

Good location, spacious room. Wifi basically does not work, even after calling to reception twice on it. Room is not clean, stains on table. Lot of moisture damages in the bathroom. Electric sockets only on one side of the bed. Overall quite disapointing exeprience.

Crap crap, crap & crap.

Lifts broken down. Do not go here- run as fast as you can. Witnessed elderly on canes climbing stairs, kids carrying baggage, my wife had a new knee, couple o travelled with has. Damaged back from work injury and NOBODY cared Staff no idea, staff didn’t want to know about it, 3 levels, ground to reception! Yes 2 lifts out- and interest t get a service out. 100% of lifts to reception broken. Ongoing issues with lifts for many months- do not go here. Loyal member for years, never again/ run away. This place is crap!

Satisfactory Stay

Overall a satisfactory stay. I would say the trump card is its city centre location and its convenience to F&B choices & shopping centres. Several factors can be improved. 1. Is there a policy that only 1 power adaptor per room is allowed to be provided by the front desk ? If so, why so calculative / stingy ? Why not use this opportunity to delight the guest ? Guests have laptops, mobile phones, ipads and power banks to charge. Would 1 per room be sufficient ? I think at the minimum, 1 per pax. For us, we had 3 pax and we requested for 2 adaptors. The young lady who checked us in provided 2 but upon check out the senior lady commented that actually only 1 adaptor per room is the hotel policy. 2. Breakfast spread lacks innovation and effort. Everyday is the same. Why not add a hot noodle station ? Some handroll sushi ? Some fresh salad ? The service staff rarely smile. Not friendly. Gives the "don't give me more trouble" look. 3. I like the complimentary lemon infused drinking water in the lobby. Very refreshing. Every hotel lobby should provide. Not much cost versus the welcoming thought and goodwill. 4. I like the sofa bed. I was expecting that I needed to DIY with the sofa but it was a pleasant surprise that a mobile bed was set up for our room. Comfortable too. 5. Wifi in room 1140 was lousy but after being changed to 1002, the signal was much better. Obviously the router position was too far. Timely remedial action taken by an empowered front office staff to change our room. Scored a point on this. Recommend to change the wifi service provider though. Also, I do not think it is right to ask the guest to speak directly to the service provider. Whose job should it be to rectify a wifi access issue ? The hotel or the paying guest ?

Comfortable room. Adequate breakfast. Excellent daily room service. Appalling wifi which would be a deal breaker if I had been relying on it. Lunch menu quite dull but the dinner one was better. Breakfast fare was fine but arrangements chaotic with one coffee machine and queues for the egg service. Fortunately several cafes serving exciting breakfast fare in the lane next door. Very fast lifts from reception to 13th floor. But the lift from street entrance to reception (3rd) floor often had considerable delays. Wonderful location for show venues and tram services further afield. The walk from Southern cross station (and Skybus) is a bit much for some but there is a tram that covers much of it.
