Cute little Pumpkins!!! and Finished ( or not) Friday!!

Did you know it is almost Halloween? and that means fall is in the air!!!

I love pumpkins - they are so cute - so imagine my dismay when I didn't have any in quilt form! It was time to remedy that...

Aren't they so cute!!! Its little string Pumpkins!! the pumpkins are in one of Bonnie Hunters books - and I wanted to make them - so!! I did!!  I don't expect you to remember, but when Green was the RSC color this year - I made these little green 4 1/2 ish rail (ISH) Blocks.... and I saw them sitting on the table

A light went on! What a grear way to use them AS THE BORDER!!! so I did!!

Then we added some pumpkin quilting, some green and white striped binding!!

and now!! it is on the top of my Dining room table!!

I have decorated ;-)

How did your week go? Did you get anything closer to finished? Did you get it Finished?  Brag away!!!

A String Quilt and!! Finished ( or not) Friday

My String Quilt is FINISHED!!! and... I still have strings - just not in those colors anymore ;-)

I really like the Darker Blue in the center of the string block. I think it provides some consistency to the chaos that is (are) String Quilts.

Baby Bella Loves it too.... She is very protective of my quilts. However she does think that fleece blankies are hers for the terrorizing... and dragging around the house, and up on the couch, and in front of the window.

I quilted flowers all over it. I think it reminds me of a Flower garden - that Riot of color!!

And look at that... I started quilting on my Jelly Roll Quilt! I said I would and I did - and I am so proud!! ( Free pattern found here)

I do have to admit to being a bit sore today. I started in on my office, and I just kept going. Why do I stack so many things on the ground? This might be a month long process - but!! I also got 2 boxes of my parents stuff sorted. Win .... but Sore ;-)

What have you been up to?
Share you DIRECT link here and let us ohh and ahh

Spread the word to others to - its a fun thing to do!!

A Teal Strings Finish...... and !! Finished (or not) Friday

My Teal Strings quilt is now Complete!!!

and I just had to show you my Green grass with the cute shoes ;-)

I found a really fun Hawaiian print for the back

And of course - because it had a Hawaiian theme going... I found a Hibiscus Flower panto:

You may not remember ( because really - why would you?) but just over a year ago we redid our kitchen and added Teal accents ( quilt ladder, seat cushions and trim)   and now!!

I have a teal quilt for each couch... for when it is NOT 100deg out side !!!

If I ever get the laundry put away enough - I will take a living room photo ;-)

And now!!! It is your turn!!

Playing in the Strings

In January I decided to try to make a string (type) Block a day... and hopefully use up some of my stash!!!

The pile has gotten rather large - so I decided that maybe it was time to make a top or two and see what I could do!

We all know that I have a plethora of Red, Whites and Blues... so Ta da!!

This is the first top I started on! If you remember.... I made one called Inspired by Cynthia ( Click here for the full story) and I just kept going with this style - so why  not try it again with the blocks I have finished!!!

This is fully Topped and on my table while I find a backing for it....

But I couldn't stop there - I had made strings with my leftover teals
and this was all I had - so you know I had to do something with them!!

Now this one is a top - and I found a really fun Hawaiian Print for the back....

Every time I think I am making a dent in my string bin... I trim a new quilt and BAM!!  Its full again... I see more stringing in the next week....

Happy Monday!!!

May RSC - Forest Steppers and my Monthly String Blocks

I'm coming in just under the wire on this one!!!!

The Rainbow Scrap Challenge color of the month was Green - I read that as Forest or Dark greens...

and with all the wonderful challenges that took me out of my studio this month - I was so excited to get this one into TOP stage!!!

( which means you WILL see it again... as a finish!!)

I didn't realized I had that much Forest in my stash... but I did!!!

And then!!! Another under the wire!!!  My plan of making one string block a day almost got away from me. And yes - I take the *string* part pretty liberally ;-)

Here you go!! 31 Blocks for May!!

They make for a bright, crazy, eye straining design wall!!!

April String Blocks

I'll admit... Kinda glad April was only 30 days... I am not sure I could have cranked out that 31st block!!!

I guess I had better get in a mode for May!!!

However - as a part of my String block a day... I bring you April's String Blocks!

Sooner or Later... I will need to get some of these into quilt tops again.... But

In the words of Scarlett O 'Hara :

"I can’t think about that right now. If I do, I’ll go crazy. I’ll think about that tomorrow."

I have to tell you... I am impressed that I have stuck with this for three whole months now...

I am a great procrastinator... and I am a great list maker... then list loser.... so I have to say.

Surprise!!!

I have 31 string blocks!!

I have more Teals to make, and I am running out of my 10 inch strips of Red and Blue... PLEASE DO NOT SENT MORE haha!! I am excited to see the bottom of the Patriotic buckets!!!

String Blocks of February

I am continuing in my String Progress.... although this month - I did not do a string block a day - I did two every other day. And I sorta ( an big emphasis on the sorta) got organized... I made piles!

And then I used a cooking tray to move my strings on and off of my sewing table. It made it easier to work on them a little at a time...

With a 28 day month... I give you:

My 28 string Blocks!!!  The nine in the top corner may just become their own quilt.... but I had to use up all the scraps from Januarys Red Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I knew if I just let them sit around.... they would just do that.... maybe for years!!!

The others , very obviously, came from my QOV String bins.... and you know what - Some of those bins now close... Oh yeah.... progress...

Wish me luck that I can do it for March too!!!

String Blocks on the Design Wall

I got it into my head that it would be fun to make a string block a day.

However - when I make string blocks - I make a HUGE mess on my sewing table.... do you?

I stuck with it, and will continue - I have more strings... but I may have to got to 2 blocks every other day - so I don't make such a mess.... maybe.... I am known to be messy - and take over the whole house....

My January Progress :

There really are 31 blocks - I just forgot to add the two under the needle....

Obviously I have a TON of Patriotic Strings - so they will need to be depleted.

And then on the right - the left overs from another quilt that I started out of my friends Fabrics. I am really liking this color palette.... its antiquey!

Oh! and!! I started cleaning out some of my fabric bins - just in case there are some things that I don't see myself using in the next 100 years ( I have a lot of fabric to sew up, I need to stick around)

So I've listed a few things in my  Quiltygirl Etsy Store

check out these Orientals.. 28 FQ's - pretty cool

A batik String Design Wall

I have been playing with the Batik strings that I made out of the leftovers from the 2021 RSC

I had them on the design wall and I kept staring - so I re arranged them like this:

It was  suggested trying to make it look like a sunset.....

and then I thought - let me try Something else:

I am always drawn to the ones that make a funky pattern - and still

I don't like either.... So - I have them stacked and may just wait until I can make more string blocks in their colorways - and come with something I like.

hmmmmm - maybe some design will pop in my head!!   Until then - I may dig for some more batik strings......

Oh!! Yes - the two people who will get the Red Blocks...

Linda at Art in Search

and

Momma Llama

I'll be emailing your for your addresses - unless you email me first!!!!

yay - Happiness flung into the world!

String Stars.... and Finished ( or Not) Friday

Once upon a Time... about almost exactly Two years ago - I had a friend... and he came to our Quilt guild and did this most AWESOME presentation - and then the next day - He taught a class.... and I participated - and then.....

I did not follow through... cuz I am a bad quilter ( bwahh ha ha)

But today!! I fixed that - and I followed through!!

My original Post  about this quilt - and now!!!

The Reveal!!

So this one is outside and gives you the true colors, but the sun was so blinding - you can't see the quilting to prove that I Quilted it!!

I took one inside as well - so you can see the quilting... because - come on people - I am a Machine Quilter ( for hire, if your looking haha)  but the colors are a little darker...

I think that I shall bind it in Navy Blue.. but that is a post for a different day - like maybe October... ( I did not say which year tho!)

Now!! BEfore you link your post - click here to open a new song from Estin and the 86'd - a little local ban here - and give their song a listen.. let's see if we can get their listens up about 1500....

now!! Lets see what you are up to!!:
how has the stitching been going for you?

String Quilts.... And Finished ( or Not) Friday

Happy Friday!!!

String Quilts are some of my most favorite types of quilts - I love the idea of the wonkiness of them turning into something usable... and so! Here we go - It measures 55 x 73 inches of scrappy!!

https://www.etsy.com/listing/805777641/blue-and-yellow-string-quilt-modern?ref=shop_home_active_1&frs=1
I think that the blues remind me of the skies around here - you never know exactly what color Blue you will get.... but something will show up!

and the yellow - because we are told that here in Colorado there is at least 300 days of sunshine...

I am not sure where they measure that - or for how long you have to see the sun... But .. I like the idea there is that much sun in a year!!

I quilted a small meander over it -
I just felt the need to not have to plan or place a pattern
Very relaxing!!

And of course - you need more yellow right?
Just made the back pop!

Alright!!! Let's see all the goodness you have been working on!!

Sticks Infinity ... and Finished ( or not) Friday

Way back in 2015  Cynthia - at Quilting is More fun than Housework started a scrappy challenge and I jumped on it!  I created Sticks.... and I loved Sticks... and I made More Sticks.... and then....

Cynthia made this cool quilt that she called A festive Picnic Quilt.... and although she used stings - I saw Sticks!!! and so I copied ( ish) her!!! ( with her permission - I promise!!) - but I was nice and I named mine

Inspired by Cynthia

And then.....  I was organizing a pile that I had stacked someplace .. and there was a small top ish type thing - and I said - OH! I can make another sticks..... and so I did...

and here it is:

Ta da!!!

The blue was in my Stack... so I added some cream stick blocks.....

and then I bordered it with An eagle Print!!! I love Eagles!! and it just seemed to look so good!

QOV #6 for 2020
