VIVIENNE WESTWOOD's SHOW: A TOY BOX OF MAGIC FROM VERSAILLES TO URBAN PUNK BRILLIANTLY BROUGHT ALIVE. A fairy tale on a bicycle

A TOUCH OF NOW
JEFFERSON HACK SITTING IN THE AUDIENCE
A FAIRY BOX OF TRICKS
TOGETHER A TEAM
SOMETHING SENSIBLE EMERGES BUT THERE IS A TWIST AGAIN
Whatever madness is going on in the play box of Vivienne Westwood's show, there is beauty and structure too as she tells the story of inspirational people who she has admired, through her artistic hand.  She takes risks. She is British and the whole thing may fail, but there she is pulling the whole thing together imaginatively.  Vivienne fully admits to sometimes liking her own designs and sometimes not.  She has the touch of  the 'mother hen' in her that wants us all not to be so stupid.  She gives lectures on greed and ecology, dreams and creation.  The show combined everything from the surreal to the real in a true beauty, clashing colours and ideas.  I loved it. Enter the land of fairy tales, nursery rhymes, and punk slashed with the grandeur of the court of Versailles. You are descending to hell and there at the end of it are gold sparkly shoes, in giant proportions.

I NEED PARIS

I need to walk
the cobbled
streets of time
gone
by
I need to have the rain
in my face
I need to see the grey
faces
and french bread
I need to smell the bakery
I need to look at
old perfumeries
I need to visit the Louvre
I need to listen to the
ghosts of Versailles
hidden in my imagination
I want to sit in my chairs
by Prouve
and visit a friend in
in rue St Peres
to open the door
hiding inside
true laughter
I need to feel lives
gone by
and see the ghosts of time.
