Love these pans, but received the wrong size!

Love these pans, but received the wrong size!
Okay, let me start off by saying I love these cake pans! I already had the 5x2 and 9x2 round pans as well as the 12x18x2 and 9x13x2 rectangular pans, but I wanted to add the 8x2 round pan to the line up for a cake I'm making soon. However, I just received the pan today, and it was the wrong size. I was sent another 9x2 pan. Interestingly, there were two labels on the outside plastic wrapper, one on the bottom side of the wrapper which said 9x2, and the other on the top side that said 8x2 (see attached photos). Furthermore, there were a few scratches on the inside of the pan. You can't tell from the photos, but these scratches were a bit raised and sharp to the touch. I've been really happy with this line in the past, so I'm still giving 4 stars, but I was quite disappointed with what I received today. Now I will have to go through the trouble of returning this item and ordering another 8x2 pan. Hopefully, it will be the right one next time! At least this happened in advance of my actually needing the cake pan, otherwise I'd be a bit stuck.

These Parrish Magic Round Cake Pans are the most professional type pans I have used. My cakes come out light brown and well baked. There is never a worry that the cake will be iver or under done when you follow the instructions. I purchased these to make my daughter's birthday cake, and she was so pleased.
The wash up is easy, I usually hand wash and dry.

I have posted the birthday cake recipe. It is so good.

    Cannoli Cake

TOTAL TIME: 1:45PREP: 1:00LEVEL: MODERATEYIELD: 12 SERVINGS (COST PER SERVING OF $1.13)SERVES: 12. From 12 Tomatoes

    INGREDIENTS

    Cake
    0.75 c. unsalted butter
    3 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tbsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. kosher salt
    1.50 c. granulated sugar
    6 large eggs
    1 tsp. almond extract
    1.50 c. half-and-half
    1 c. mini chocolate chips
    0.50 c. chopped shelled pistachios
    2 large cannoli shells
    Frosting
    3.50 c. whole-milk ricotta
    2.50 tsp. orange zest
    2 tsp. lemon zest
    0.25 tsp. cinnamon
    0.25 tsp. kosher salt
    0.75 c. confectioners’ sugar
    0.75 c. heavy cream
    DIRECTIONS

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat two 8-inch round cake pans with butter, then dust with flour; shake out any excess.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Using an electric mixer, beat the sugar and butter in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then beat in the almond extract (if using). Reduce the mixer speed to medium and gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with the half-and-half, mixing just until combined; fold in 1/2 cup of the chocolate chips.
Divide the batter between the prepared pans (about 3 1/2 cups each) and bake until a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes. Let cakes cool in pans for 5 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
While the cakes cool, make the frosting. Using an electric mixer, beat the ricotta in a large bowl until smooth. Beat in the zests, cinnamon, and salt. Mix in the confectioners' sugar until smooth. Add the heavy cream and, using the whisk attachment, beat on medium-high speed until thick and stiff, 3 to 4 minutes. Refrigerate until ready to use.
Cut the cakes in half horizontally to create 4 layers. Arrange four 3-inch-wide strips of parchment or wax paper in a square around the edge of a serving plate (this will help keep the plate clean) and place 1 cake layer on the plate. Spread 1 cup frosting on top. Sandwich another layer of cake and repeat with the remaining layers, then frost the top and sides of the cake.
Gently press the pistachios, cannoli shells, and remaining 1/2 cup chocolate chips onto the sides of the cake (use the parchment paper to help pat them on). Refrigerate until ready to serve (up to 2 days).

My original 8" cake pans had suffered the effects of 6 kiddos and 32 years (do the math--that's a lot of cakes!) and I accidentally replaced them with 9" dark pans. I wasn't happy, so--to Amazon!

These pans are a bit more pricey than some alternatives, but their quality makes them worth it. I put a bit of parchment paper in the bottoms and my cakes bake beautifully and never stick. The color of anything baked in them, like homemade cinnamon rolls, is lovely, and the pans themselves are what I call old fashioned heavy duty quality. They wash up nicely (I personally hand wash), too.

I'll be back for other items by this manufacturer. They've earned it, IMO.

Edit, 11/28/11--after using these for a couple of months (dozens of times), I had to come back to say they still look new. Their performance is exceptional, and I cannot believe how inexpensive they are for what you get. Worth every penny, and then some! Buy them, buy them. :)

An excellent cake pan (I bought two of them) that gives you straight sides, which is perfect for layered cakes. I didn't know I ever needed one until I got this. The 8-inch size is great though this would, of course, depend on the recipe used. I brush on a simple "magic cake release" (equal parts all purpose flour, vegetable oil, and vegetable shortening) mix before pouring in the batter (I also occasionally line it with an 8-inch round of parchment paper) and the cakes come out easily.

Good material and sturdy; I can see myself using this for years to come! The only thing is after washing and letting it try upside down, some of the water gets into the little "roll fold" and comes out when you take it out to put away, but that's a minor annoyance and doesn't affect the performance of the pans. No signs of rusting, either!

These are some of the best cake pans on the market! Excellent quality, not too thin and cake layers bake evenly. I do a lot of home baking of layer cakes and highly recommend these if you want to take your baking to the next level!

Approximately 10 years ago I purchased a bunch of cake pans of different names. I have used them interchangeably over the years and can say with confidence, I will be purchasing all the sizes I need from magic line, and will be donating the other brands. Yes, the other brands are well made, sturdy, and clean up nice. However, (and I don't know how magic line does it), but it is the only pan where my cakes come out of the oven level. I have never had a cake come out of the oven with other brand pans that I didn't need to trim. I never need to trim a cake when I use the magic line pan. Bakes beautifully, and saves time.

Received the two 8 x 2 inch round cake pans, each with a deep linear scratch on the side wall of the pan. These were quite similar, and perhaps were from production. One pan had scratches on the inside bottom. The pans feel solid and seem like they will work well for my needs, once I receive an unscratched pair. I prefer a sturdy pan that is light in color, and highly prefer made in the USA. In comparison to the thin, lightweight cake pans that can be purchased at grocery stores and big box stores? These are far superior, except for the scratches. Unfortunately, these pans are heading back to Amazon, but I will reorder. ***One caveat: I did not notice until I went to return these pans, but the price listed is not what Amazon charged me. Amazon charged me $10.42 per pan for the 8 x 2 pan. Amazon needs to correct the pricing on the listing, or charge what the listing states.***
