Had my Ting for almost a year. My home insurance company sent it to me free. Most house fire occur due to electrical problems. Ting identifies the fault and schedules an electrician to correct the problem. The red light below the Ting is just a dimmer for a lamp.

    A real fear that has always existed in my mind is driving home only to find our house has burned to the ground, or even worse, to be awoken in the middle of the night with our house burning while our family is inside. No sparks? No problem. But if it does detect an issue, I don’t have to panic-Google “how to tell if my house is about to explode.” Instead, their team actually contacts me to diagnose the problem. That’s right—they check in on me. It’s like having a responsible older sibling who actually cares about my well-being.

    And here’s the best part: you only need ONE of these things for your entire home, as long as you have a single power line coming in. No need to buy multiples for different floors or different rooms—this little genius monitors everything from one spot. It’s like the all-seeing eye of home electrical safety.

    So far, I’ve had zero alerts, which either means my Nextdoor electrician did an okay job, or I’m just living in blissful ignorance.     I guess I must be lucky because they system gave me no useful information. But the real problem with this product is I gave it to my friend and he couldn't use it - apparently it's linked to just one user - there may be a way around this but why make obstacles.

    We had been experiencing some light flickering and I ordered a Ting. It has a 7-day "learning" period and it had registered numerous power surges and brownouts. On day 5 it kicked of an "urgent" warning and potential fire hazard, that it had detected a loose neutral on the power company side. It recommended calling them. I did and they arrived shortly thereafter and what did they find? A neutral at the pole, they said, was "barely connected." They fixed the problem, which was an actual fire hazard, and my flickering has gone away. My Ting purchase was much less than having to pay an electrician. Highly recommend!!
