Crochet Fruit Salad

Ik was aan het bladeren in wat oude haaktijdschriften en toen zag ik het patroon van een schattige fruit salade. Zo'n simpel en snel projectje zag ik wel zitten, dus ik verzamelde wat katoen en ging aan de slag. Het patroon vond ik in Simply Crochet Amigurumi Collection, een speciale uitgave van het tijdschrift uit 2015. Ik had het nog bewaard omdat een van mijn eigen patronen er in stond. Ik was het eigenlijk alweer vergeten dus het was leuk om bij het bladeren mijn eigen naam tegen te komen. Het patroon van de fruit salade is van Sandrine Deveze. Zij bracht ondertussen het prachtige boek Sweet Crochet (Tendre Crochet in het Frans) uit, dat vind je hier. Ik vond de patroontjes van deze fruit salade online nergens meer terug helaas, maar als je in de rechter zijbalk van mijn blog in de lijst met labels zoekt naar 'appels' of 'peren' dan kom je vanzelf andere leuke patroontjes tegen. Een leuk patroontje van een peer vond ik hier (NL) en hier (ENG). Ik wens je een fijne dag!

I was going through some old magazines when I found the pattern of this cute fruit salad. Such an easy and quick project was exactly what I was looking for, so I gathered some cotton and I started crocheting. The pattern was in the Simply Crochet Amigurumi Collection, a special edition of the magazine from 2015. I kept it because one of my patterns was in it. Actuallly, I had forgotten all about that, so it was fun to suddenly see my name while going through the pages. The pattern from the fruit salad if from Sandrine Deveze. In 2015 she published the gorgeous book Sweet Crochet (Tendre Crochet in French), you can find the book here. Unfortunately I couldn't find the patterns of the fruit salad anywhere online, but if you go to the right side bar of my blog to the list of labels and search for the word 'apples' or 'pears', you can find a lot of cute patterns. Apple Cozy Free Pattern

Ik viste van de week weer eens een gebutste appel uit mijn tas. Toen ik 's avonds thuis kwam ben ik daarom op zoek gegaan naar de appelknoopjes die ik vorig jaar een keer vond toen ik samen met Loes van Freubelweb op een freubeldate was. En toen ik het knoopje gevonden had haakte ik dit hoesje voor mijn appels. Het is een hoesje voor een niet al te grote appel. Het patroon vind je hieronder. Ik haakte het hoesje met een haaknaald 3.5mm en restjes Scheepjes Cotton Eight garen. Wil je ander garen gebruiken? Dan kun je ook Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK of Phildar Phil Coton 3 gebruiken.

I found a crushed apple in my bag earlier this week. So when I arrived home I started looking for the cute apple cuttons I found last year when I was on a craft date with Loes from Freubelweb. And when I found the button, I made this apple cozy for my apples. It's an apple cozy for a small sized apple. You can find the pattern below. HAAKPATROON APPELHOESJE

Patroon hoesje
Je haakt het hoesje in een spiraal tenzij anders vermeld.
1. Haak 6 V in een magische ring. Vind je de magische ring niet fijn? Haak dan 2 lossen en haak de 6 V in de eerste losse die je haakte.
2. Meerder rondom met HST. (12)
3. * Haak 1 HST in de volgende steek, haak 2 HST in de daarop volgende steek. * Herhaal rondom. (18)
4. * Haak 1 HST in de volgende 2 steken, haak 2 HST in de daarop volgende steek. * Herhaal rondom. (24)
5. * Haak 1 HST in de volgende 3 steken, haak 2 HST in de daarop volgende steek. * Herhaal rondom. (30)
6. * Haak 1 HST in de volgende 4 steken, haak 2 HST in de daarop volgende steek. * Herhaal rondom. (36)

15. Haak 2 L, keer je werk, haak 1 HST in elke steek.
16. Haak 10 lossen en haak vervolgens een halve vaste in het laatste HST wat je haakte aan het einde van toer 15. Dit lusje is het knoopsgaatje. Naai nu het knoopje aan de andere kant van de opening en werk alle draadjes weg.

Patroon blaadje
Maak er twee
1. Haak 10 L.
2. Haak in de tweede L vanaf de naald 1 vaste. Haak in de volgende lossen: 1 HST, 1 HST, 1 ST, 1 ST, 1 ST, 1 HST, 1 HST, 1V.
3. De steken van toer 2 haak je vervolgens ook aan de andere kant van de lossenrij. Dus in de laatste losse haak je nog 1V, vervolgens ga je verder met de andere steken.
4. Haak na de laatste V niet af, maar ga door met halve vasten door het midden van de lossenrij naar de andere kant van het blaadje. Hecht af en laat een lange draad zitten waarmee je het blaadje op de appel naait.

Pattern Apple Cozy
Crochet in a spiral, unless stated otherwise.
1. Make 6 SC in a magic ring. If you don’t like the magic ring, do the following: chain 2, make 6 SC in the first chain.
2. Increase around with HDC stitches. (12)
3. * 1 HDC in the next stitch, increase (HDC) in the next stitch. * Repeat around. (18)
4. * 1 HDC in the next 2 stitches, increase (HDC) in the next stitch. * Repeat around. (24)
5. * 1 HDC in the next 3 stitches, increase (HDC) in the next stitch. * Repeat around. (30)
6. * 1 HDC in the next 4 stitches, increase (HDC) in the next stitch. * Repeat around. (36)
7. * 1 HDC in the next 5 stitches, increase (HDC) in the next stitch. * Repeat around. (42)
8-12. 1 HDC in each stitch around. (42)
13. * 5 HDC, decrease in the next stitch. * Repeat around. (36)
14. Chain 2, turn.* 5 HDC, decrease in the next stitch. * Repeat around. (30)
15. Chain 2, turn, 1 HDC in each stitch around.
16. Chain 10 en make a slip stitch in the last HDC you made at the end of row 15. You’ve now made the loop for the button. Work away all yarn ends and sew a button on the other side.

Pattern leaves
Make two leaves.
1. Chain 10.
2. Make 1 SC in the second chain from your hook. In all other chain stitches do the following: 1 HDC, 1 HDC, 1 DC, 1 DC, 1 DC, 1 HDC, 1 HDC, 1 SC.
3. Now make the same stitches you made in row 2 on the other side of the row of chains. So in the last chain do another SC, and continue making the other stitches on the other side of the row of chains.
4. Don’t fasten off after the last SC, but continue making slip stitches through the middle of the leaf. So you make the slip stitches in the row of chains. Fasten off when you’ve reached the other side of the leaf and sew the leaf onto the apple cozy.

Crochet Apples

Gisteren kocht ik een hele leuke tas bij de La Place. Er staat een grote appel op, en mede geïnspireerd door de appelsleutelhanger van KnoopjesZ Haken (klik hier) besloot ik een paar appeltjes te haken. Ik haakte met Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK en ik gebruikte dit patroon van Planet June. Het is een Engels patroon en ik weet dat veel mensen dat lastig vinden. Maar dit is echt een goed patroon om eens mee te oefenen. Hier is een klein vertaalschema wat je erbij kunt houden als je gaat haken. Op de foto hangen de appeltjes nog aan een slinger, maar ik ga er nu sleutelhangers van maken. Meer appelpatroontjes vind je hier.
Ik krijg momenteel trouwens veel vragen of ik workshops geef. Er gaan zeker een aantal leuke haakevenementen aankomen waar ik bij aanwezig zal zijn en in Delft ga ik binnenkort een haakworkshop voor beginners organiseren. Zodra die gepland zijn zal ik ze aankondigen op mijn Facebook-pagina.

Yesterday I bought this lovely bag at La Place restaurant. I love the printed apple on the bag, and inspired by the cute apple keychain of KnoopjesZ Haken (click here) I decided to crochet a few apples for myself. I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK and this pattern by Planet June. On the photo the apples are on a cord, but I'll change them into keychain hangers tonight. At the moment I get many emails of people that are interested in joining one of my crochet classes. I will plan a crochet class for beginners in the near future. As soon as the dates are available, I'll announce them on my Facebook-page.

Haken en maken

Ik was op zoek naar het patroontje van een peer, en opeens zat ik op de website van het Voedingscentrum waar ik dit leuke exemplaar tegenkwam. Als je hier klikt ga je naar de pagina waar ook de patroontjes van een appel, een wortel en een aarbeienmuts op staan.

I was looking for the pattern of a pear, when all of a sudden I found this cutie on the website of Het Voedingscentrum. If you click here you will go to the page where you can find the Dutch pattern, and also patterns of an apple, a carrot and a strawberry baby hat.

En het is haar weer gelukt om een superleuk en mooi boek te publiceren: Joke van Amigurumipatterns.net. Ik had het geluk dat ik dit prachtige boek kreeg en er een review over mocht schrijven. Toen ik daarmee wilde beginnen bedacht ik dat de beste manier is om zelf een van de patronen uit te proberen. Dus dat heb ik gedaan. Ik heb het patroon van William geprobeerd. William is een worm die zich door een hele smakelijk uitziende appel eet. Het patroon heeft drie sterren, wat betekent dat het voor ervaren haaksters is. Ik denk dat ik dat ben, dus ik ga er mee aan de slag. Ik volgde het patroon en ik begon aan de appel. Alles ging goed tot het moment dat ik het gehaakte gat aan de binnenkant van de appel vast moest maken. Je weet wel, dat gat wat William gemaakt heeft en wat je apart moet maken. Op het punt waar ik het gat aan de appel vast moest maken, was ik nog niet begonnen met het maken van het gat. Ik vroeg me af of ik eerst het patroon door had moeten lezen, dan had ik het natuurlijk gezien. Of is het patroon in de verkeerde volgorde opgeschreven? Enfin, ik heb alsnog het gat gehaakt en ben vervolgens verder gegaan met de rest van het patroon.
Het patroon was verder heel erg goed geschreven. Het is helder en foutloos. Ik vond de foto's die bij het patroon staan erg handig, dat hielp me door de gedeeltes waar het wat ingewikkelder werd.
Het boek telt 15 patronen en ik vind ze bijna allemaal leuk. Ik heb nog nooit een boek gevonden waarvan ik alle patronen leuk vind, maar bij dit boek kan ik zeggen: ik vind 99% leuk. En dat is een hele goeie score volgens mij. Als je het boek wilt bestellen kun je dat hier doen. Als je dit boek al hebt (of een eerder boek uit de Zoomigurumi serie), laat me dan weten wat je er van vindt. Ik vind het erg leuk om jouw mening te horen!

And again she managed to publish another fun and lovely book: Joke Vermeiren from Amgirumupatterns.net. I was lucky to receive this gorgeous book and to get the chance to write a review about it. 
So I got started and decide that the best way to find out if a crochet book meets your expectations is to give one of the patterns a try, and so I did. I tried the pattern of William, a worm who's eating his way through a yummy looking apple. The pattern has three stars, which means that it is for an experienced crocheter. Well, I guess I am so I started working on it. I followed the pattern and started working on the apple. Everything went well until at a certain point you need to attach the hole to the inside of the apple. You know, the hole that William made which is a part that you make seperately. When I arrived at the point where I had to attach the hole to the apple, I hadn't made the hole yet. I was wondering: is the pattern written in the wrong order? Or should I have read the pattern before I started, then I surely would have noticed it. Oh well, I made the hole in between and then I finished the rest of the pattern.
The pattern itself is very well written. It is clear and it's faultless. I loved the pictures that came with the pattern, that helped me through the parts where it could have been slightly confusing. 
The book has 15 patterns and I really love most of them. I've never found a book where I loved all patterns, but with this book I must say: I love 99%. Which is a very good score I believe. Dit hele leuke appelmeisje vond ik op een blog die inmiddels niet meer beschikbaar is. Ook het patroontje wat ooit in een Etsy-winkel is helaas onvindbaar. Omdat het toch echt een van mijn favoriete amigurumis is wil ik hem toch heel graag op mijn blog laten staan. Heb je een idee waar dit patroontje te vinden is? Dan hoop ik dat je een reactie achterlaat.

This very cute apple girl was once on a blog that's not available anymore. The pattern is also unavailable as the Etsy-shop that once sold it is closed. Because it is one of my favourite amigurumis I'll leave it here on my blog. If you know where to find this pattern, please leave a comment below.

Spring Wreath

Vandaag lijkt het wel de eerste dag van de lente. Eindelijk een temperatuur waardoor je graag naar buiten gaat. Het leek me dan ook een goeie dag om mijn Lentekrans af te maken. Het patroon van de appels komt hier vandaan, het patroon van de bloemen vind je hier. Ik maakte ze met Drops Paris en een haaknaald 4mm. Een alternatief garen voor Drops Paris is Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran, dat vind je hier.
De krans kocht ik bij de bloemenwinkel en met heel dun ijzerdraad maakte ik alles vast. Aan de papieren bloemen zit al een ijzerdraadje, dat is voor zo'n project heel handig. Wil je meer foto's zien? Today it looks like it's the first day of Spring. Finally a temperature that makes you want to go outside. So it was a good day to finish my Spring Wreath. The pattern from the apples is here, the pattern of the flowers is here. I made them with Drops Paris cotton and a crochet hook size 4mm. A very similar yarn is Paintbox Yarn Cotton Aran, that's available here.
I bought the wreath at a local florist and with very thin iron wire I attached everything to the wreath. The paper flowers already have a very thin iron wire attached to them so that's very helpful for a project like this. Do you want to see more pictures? Apple Paperclip Tutorial

De uitslag van de Creablog-wedstrijd komt dichterbij, en zo stijgt ook de spanning. Zal ik bij een van de winnaars horen? Ik hoop het zo! Ondertussen heb ik nog een kleine tutorial voor jullie gemaakt. Wat heb je nodig? Een grote paperclip (ik haalde een setje bij de HEMA) en een beetje katoen geschikt voor een haaknaald 4mm (bijvoorbeeld Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran). Als je het appeltje gehaakt hebt naai je het gewoon op de paperclip vast. Leuk om je bureau mee op te fleuren, vind je niet? Veel plezier ermee.

A giant paperclip (I bought mine at HEMA) and a little bit of cotton for a crochet hook size 4mm (for instance Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran). Once you've crocheted the apple, just sew it onto the paperclip. It's really cute for cheering up your desk, don't you think? Enjoy!

Patroon appel

1. Maak een magische ring. (Een tutorial vind je hier. Vind je dat nog steeds lastig? Haak dan 2 lossen en ga verder met rij 2. Haak de 2 lossen en de 10 stokjes van rij 2 in de eerste losse die je haakte.) 
2. Haak 2 lossen, haak 10 stokjes in de ring.
3. Haak een halve vaste in het eerste stokje wat je haakte. De eerste twee lossen die je haakte tellen niet als stokje.
4. Haak 2 lossen.
5. *Haak bovenin het volgende stokje 2 stokjes*. Herhaal rondom totdat je rondom 18 stokjes hebt gehaakt. De eerste twee lossen die je haakte tellen niet als stokje.
6. Haak 2 lossen.
7. Haak 1 halve vaste bovenin hetzelfde stokje als waarin je de laatste set van twee stokjes in haakte.

1. Haak 5 losse.

1. Haak 6 losse.

Pattern apple

1. Make a magic ring. (You can find a tutorial here. Do you still think it's too difficult? Then do 2 chain stitches and proceed with row 2. Do the 2 chain stitches and the 10 double crochet of row 2 in the second chain stitch you made.)
2. Chain 2, make 10 double crochet in the ring.
3. Make 1 slip stitch in the first double crochet you made. The first 2 chain stitches don't count as a double crochet.
4. Chain 2.
5. *Make 2 double crochet in the next stitch.* Repeat around until you've made 18 double crochet. The first two chain stitches don't count as a double crochet.
6. Chain 2.
7. Make 1 slip stitch in the double crochet in which you did the last set of two double crochet. 
8. Fasten off.

Stem

1. Chain 5.
2. Do 1 single crochet in the second chain from the hook.
3. Do 3 slip stitches in the next three chain stitches.
4. Fasten off.

 Leaf

1. Chain 6.
2. Do 1 single crochet in the second chain from the hook.
3. In the next chain stitches you do: 1 half double crochet, 1 double crochet, 1 half double crochet, 1 single crochet.

Patronen ontwerpen vind ik erg leuk, maar het lastigste vind ik iets verzinnen wat er nog niet is. Er zijn al zoveel mooie dingen ontworpen! Deze appelboom (die ook als rammelaar gemaakt kan worden) bedacht ik tijdens onze laatste vakantie in Engeland. Gisteren heb ik het patroon eindelijk helemaal opgeschreven en vanaf nu is het verkrijgbaar in mijn Etsy-shop.

I love designing patterns, but I think it's the hardest thing to come up with something that isn't there yet. There are already so many gorgeous designs out there! I came up with the idea of this apple tree (that can also be made as a rattle) during our last vacation in the UK. Yesterday I managed to write down the pattern so as from today the pattern in available in my Etsy-shop.

Monday Pattern Day: Apple Coasters!

Een hele tijd geleden maakte ik deze Apple Coasters. Vervolgens dacht ik: je kunt er ook een sinaasappel of een citroen van maken door gewoon van kleur te wisselen. Grappig toch? Je kunt de coasters haken met Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran en een haaknaald 4mm.

A long time ago I made these Apple Coasters. Then I thought: you can easily change these apples into lemons or oranges by changing color. Isn't that fun? You can make these coasters with Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran and a crochet hook size 4mm.

Cirkel (met rood)
- 4L, aan elkaar vastmaken met een HV. Je kunt ook met een magische ring starten. Als je niet weet hoe dan moet, klik dan hier.
- 2L, 10ST in de ring. Het eerste en het laatste stokje aan elkaar vastmaken met een HV. (10)
- 2L, 2ST in elk onderliggende stokje. Het eerste en het laatste stokje aan elkaar vastmaken met een HV. (20)
- 2L, 2ST in elk onderliggende stokje. Het eerste en het laatste stokje aan elkaar vastmaken met een HV. (40)
- 40V. (40)

Steel (met grijs)
- 8L.
- 1V in 2e steek vanaf de naald.
- 6HV in de volgende steken. Afhechten.

Blaadje (met groen)
- 6L.
- 1V in 2e steek vanaf de naald. In de volgende steken: 1HST, 1ST, 1HST, 1V.
- Ga nu verder aan de andere kant van de 6L van de eerste rij: 1V, 1HST, 1ST, 1HST, 1V. Haak nu halve vaste in de eerste vaste die je haakte aan het begin van de tweede toer.
- Om een streepje in het midden van het blad te krijgen ga je door het midden met HV naar het beneden.

Circle (with red)
- Chain 4. Attach the first to the last with a SLST. You can also start with a magic ring. If you don't know how to make a magic ring, click here.
- Chain 2, 10DC in the ring. Attach the first to the last with a SLST. (10)
- Chain 2, 2DC in every DC of the previous row. Attach the first to the last with a SLST. (20)
- Chain 2, 2DC in every DC of the previous row. Attach the first to the last with a SLST. (40)
- 40SC. (40)

Stem (with grey)
- Chain 8.
- 1SC in the 2nd stitch.
- 6SLST in the next 6 stitches. Finish off.

Leaf (with green)
- Chain 6.
- 1SC in the 2nd stitch. In the next stitches: 1HDC, 1DC, 1HDC, 1SC. 
- Now keep going on the other side of the 6 chains of the first row: 1SC, 1HDC, 1DC, 1HDC, 1SC. Make 1 SLST in the first SC that you made in the second row.
- SLST through the middle of the leaf back down to the beginning of the leaf to get a stripe in the middle of the leaf.

Ik was gisteren iets totaal anders aan het maken toen ik ineens bedacht dat ik er ook wel onderzetters van kon maken. Ik had ze al eens eerder gezien en vond ze zo ontzettend vrolijk. Toen kon ik nog niet haken, en om zoiets dan nu zonder patroon zelf te maken maakt me nog blijer (-: Fijne zondag!

Yesterday I was making something totally different when I decided that I could turn them into coasters as well. I'd seen them before and thy make me so happy! At that time I couldn't crochet, so to make them now without a pattern is super-exciting (-: Have a great Sunday!

An apple

De echte vind ik niet lekker dus die zul je niet in mijn fruitschaal aantreffen, maar deze appels zijn wel welkom (-: Het heeft me een avond gekost om ze te maken omdat het even duurde voordat ik een leuk blaadje had ontworpen. Helaas heb ik het patroon niet opgeschreven. Dat zal ik de volgende keer proberen. Ik haakte de appel met Hoooked Zpagetti en het blaadje en de steel met een restje katoen.

I don't like real apples, so you won't find any of those in my fruit bowl, but I do like these ones :-) It took me all night before the leaves had the shapes I like. Unfortunately I didn't write down the pattern. I'll try next time. I made the apple with Hoooked Zpagetti and the leaf with scraps of green cotton.
