lyrics
He Rides High
He was born in the desert
Underneath the blistering sun
She was cool like a raindrop
Said she didn’t need no one
Fortune turns like a wild beast
Oh it leaps and it moans
They made love on a feather bed
Arrowheads and satin robes
Oh he rides high, and he sings low
Oh he rides high, and he sings low
Desire mounted like a tumbleweed
Oh it knocked them to the ground
And nothing can come between
King and Queen of Nowhere Town
Oh he rides high, and he sings low
Oh he rides high, and his love it shows
His love it shows
In the distance you can hear them
When the wind breaks into a howl
Their fingers wrapped in twilight
Oh their kiss is endless now
Oh he rides high, and he sings low
Oh he rides high, and his love it shows
His love it shows
Each year the same story: My wife (handmade pop music) and I (black metal maniac) go on holiday. We need some "soft" but honest music for long car drives. It is a tough week in advance to dive deeply into musical scrap to find some pearls like MARGO PRICE! She presents easy going country pop, smooth and with pleasant vocals, reminding me sometimes even at Stevie Nicks. The title track is one of my favourites, but also the other songs are catchy and performed with smooth energy, H.L.
An album that gets better with every listen. It was already in my top 10 of the year, but it just keeps pushing higher. Lydia Loveless is so damn underrated. William Boyle
Long-running underground rocker Brian Vanderwerf is the heart and soul of these gritty songs that capture the scruffy spirit of the ’70s. Bandcamp New & Notable May 7, 2022
Tom Heyman documents life in San Francisco circa 2023, refusing to succumb to easy characterization & instead capturing the city’s nuance. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 22, 2023
If it’s been said once, it’s been said a thousand times: “I love his songs, but I just can’t stand Bob Dylan’s voice!”. My brother in Christ, people have been covering his songs since the ‘60s, and all of them—ALL OF THEM—have better singing voices. But what we have here is Bob Dylan songs sung by an angel. Emma Swift’s voice is rich, lush, and absolutely gorgeous, and the love and care she takes in these performances can be both heard and felt. Every ounce of this album is sheer perfection.
