This update of the Guidelines revises WHO recommendations on indoor residual spraying (IRS) for malaria. It incorporates new evidence on two insecticides (chlorfenapyr and isocycloseram) and emphasizes reducing DDT use. A new recommendation on spatial repellents is also included.

This version of the Guidelines includes an updated recommendation for malaria vaccines, new recommendations on the use of near-patients qualitative and semiquantitative G6PD tests to guide anti-relapse treatment of P. vivax and P. ovale, updated recommendations on primaquine and the recommendation on the use of tafenoquine.
