Originally launched in 2023 to critical acclaim, this pixel-powered shooter drops you into the boots of a legendary Space Marine for a relentless, adrenaline-fuelled mission across a war-torn Forge World.

Inspired by action games of the ’90s, Boltgun Boom is oozing with style, with pixel backdrops, explosions of sprites and retro cutscenes, alongside lo-fi sound effects and music reminiscent of the era. Here’s our quick peek of what to expect.

Boltgun Boom throws you into the Power Armour of Malum Caedo, an elite Ultramarines Sternguard Veteran on a desperate mission to retrieve a shard of a mysterious and powerful energy source before it falls into the wrong hands. The game begins with Caedo’s Drop Pod crashing into enemy territory after coming under fire, wiping out his squad and leaving him stranded, armed with only a chainsword and his faithful Servo-skull companion.

Taking place on the Forge World Graia, a world teetering on the brink of total chaos, you’ll face Cultists, Traitor Marines, Daemons and other forces of darkness across gothic cathedrals, corrupted canyons, imposing bastions and war-torn wastelands. Your Servo-skull floats alongside you throughout, offering hints on where to go, keys to find and rich lore about the world around you.

Boltgun Boom's gameplay is fast, fluid and deeply satisfying. Dash, jump and carve through enemies with high-octane mobility, building your arsenal as you progress, from the iconic Boltgun and searing Plasma Gun to the thunderous Heavy Bolter, Shotgun and Meltagun, each feeling distinct and rewarding to use. Scattered throughout every level are hidden Secrets too, including powerful weapon upgrades and game-changing grenades that give you the edge when you need them most.
