a man kneeling down in front of blue flowers
Walters Gardens on Instagram: "This shade perennial can best be described as a giant version of the classic ‘Jack Frost’-with a twist. The huge 9-10” leaves overlap dramatically at the base giving it a shape similar to the snail delicacy escargot. Overall, the foliage is circular from a distance. The leaves have a heavy silver overlay with vivid wide, dark green veining pattern. From mid to late spring, baby blue, forget-me-not type blossoms are held in clusters above the foliage. 2025 @provenwinners National Perennial of the Year® Height: 14-16 inches / Spread: 28-32 inches / Zones 3-8 #waltersgardens #provenwinners #gardening #flower #plants #perennials #gardeninspiration #brunnera #shadegarden #perennialgarden #perennialflowers #inspiration #plantthis"

three potted plants sitting on top of a counter in front of a window with the words how do i get my supermarket basil to look like this?
Leanne Kilroy on Instagram: "THE BASIL TRICK 🌿 1. Never water the soil, only water the saucer 2. Always keep the saucer full 3. Never pluck, always trim the stem just above a leaf Some other helpful tips: 4. Use an XL saucer or bowl. It will drink what it needs! 5. Repotting into a bigger pot will mean a bigger basil! Use normal potting soil. You can split supermarket plants into multiple pots if you want. 6. This works best in the warmer months and indoors 7. Basil loves a sunny spot 🌞 8. Wait a month or so before you trim 9. Give it time - these plants are three months old 10. Once it’s big, trimming will keep your basil healthy and bushy. Trim off any flowers immediately! 11. I use terracotta pots and water impermeable saucers. Save this post for future reference and see my o

Hungry for Home on Instagram: "Today’s #TipTuesday might be my favorite yet. I’m showing you how to make a living centerpiece that lasts far longer than fresh-cut flowers. I used a vintage punch bowl, some potted orchids from Trader Joe’s, and a bit of sheet moss you can find just about anywhere. This will stay lovely right at the center of your table for weeks. It’s simple, beautiful, and a fun way to add your personal touch to the table. . . . #flowerarrangment #livingcenterpiece #homemakingtips #tablescape #centerpiecesideas #centerpieceflower #flowerdesign #traderjoes #traderjoesflowers"
a man wearing a hat is holding a bag with plants in it and the caption says, a years supply of basil
Joseph Clark on Instagram: "Today we are back and I am showing you from start to finish how anyone can grow more basil than you will know what to do with, and it all starts with just a couple of cheap plants from the supermarket. I adore growing fresh herbs and basil has to be one of my favourites. It pairs so well with crops such as tomatoes, and it really is the taste of the summer. I love to add it to fresh tomatoes, use it in my pasta sauce, or make delicious fresh pesto, and with a few quick tips, you can easily grow more than you will know what to do with. Now when you buy basil from the shops, you are usually getting more than you bargained for. They cram loads of individual basil plants in one small pot, which is usually why they die. Instead gently separate out into smaller cl

Carmen Johnston Gardens on Instagram: "Comment RED to shop all of my favs ready for Walmart Curbside pick up and all of my POINSETTIA TIPS!!! After cutting your blooms, sear the stem ends with a lighter for a few seconds to seal in the sap. This trick helps your poinsettias last for a few weeks. Place them in water and keep your vase topped off for the best results. Just a reminder: poinsettias don’t like it below 50°F, so be mindful of the temperature as they will get sleepy. Be careful, as some children and pets may be allergic. Who knew you could add them to your Walmart curbside pick up order…made a late night run prepping for Thanksgiving needed green onions and a mop 💚🤣🦃"

the garden is full of colorful flowers and shrubs
Joy in the Garden 🌸Joyce Merschman Ludlow on Instagram: "Helen Von Stein Lamb’s Ear is the plant I’m asked about the most. Although there are many varieties of lamb’s ear, I have a strong preference for the Helen Von Stein variety. It’s hardy in zones 4-8. Why do I love it? 1. It looks like a large rosette. In fact, many people believe it looks like a hosta and are confused how I grow a hosta in full sun. 2. It brings a soft gray/blue hue to the garden, helping over plants shine. 3. It fills in quickly. I have it in places where I want it to become a ground cover so I don’t have to deal with weeds or mulch. 4. It’s tough. I put it in places where I know I’ll pull hoses over it and people may step on it. There’s a very important thing you MUST know about any lamb’s ear. It WILL increase i
