ORQ. PANAMERICANA

[ Angel Rafael Pena ] "Lito" Pena was born on July 17, 1921, in Humacao, Puerto Rico, from a family of musicians, his father a bandleader was his first teacher. After performing for various outfits and returning to school he decided to form his own band, so in 1954 he formed Orchestra Panamericana with the help of two other members, Berto Torres, trumpeter & the famed pianist Luisito Benjamin. The pianist, composer/arr, Hector Urdaneta songs were a mainstay of the band. Died on June 18, 2002.
