But I’d spent so long gathering inspiration on here I had a clear vision. We removed the old gas fire and replastered the entire chimney breast. Our amazing joiner built and fitted our alcove cabinets from MDF and we painted them ourselves which kept costs down. We added an oak mantel, used a single floor tile as a hearth stone, and added brick effect wallpaper to the fireplace. I still pinch myself when I walk into this room, and I’m very proud of how I brought my vision to life. The final thing left to do is replace the carpet, as it’s around 8 years old and you definitely don’t want to look clo

To anyone who wants to know whether the kit is worth buying then the answer is yes, absolutely! I ended up using one and a half kits, though a smaller wall would only need one. Lots of people did comment that it would have been cheaper to buy a sheet of MDF and have it cut, but honestly I don't think there's much difference in the cost and personally I prefer this hassle free option!
