Alternatively…how to dangle a potato covered in feathers over your crops to act as a bird scarer. 😂 It works really well at keeping birds off your fruit and veggies in the kitchen garden #gardening #gardeningtips #gardeninghacks #birdscarer"
Simon Akeroyd on Instagram: "This is the simplest method I know to save tomato seed. It always works and is so simple. If you follow this technique with some of your favourite tomato seeds that you grew this year you should never need to buy tomato seed again. Heirloom varieties usually come true from seed. #growtomatoes #saveseed #seedsowing"
50K views · 5.1K reactions | Winning at life! Winter is a good time to propagate figs. So if you have a friend or neighbour with a fig bush, ask if you can take some hardwood cuttings. It willl provide you with free plants. The first technique I showed in this video is called ‘Layering’ The second technique is taking hardwood cuttings. Warning. Be careful of the fig sap. Avoid getting it on your skin as it can cause irritation or even skin burns. The most reliable fig variety for ripening outdoors in cool climates such as the UK is Brown Turkey #gardening #growyourown | Simon Akeroyd | ABBA · The Winner Takes It All
Simon Akeroyd on Instagram: "It’s so quick and easy to re-grow leek scraps. Intead of throwing the bases of the leeks away after you’ve made your Christmas meal you can instead re-grow them in either compost or water. They won’t grow to full size leeks, but they will be sweet, succulent and packed full of mild, oniony flavours. #festiveseason #christmas #gardening #growyourown"

Simon Akeroyd on Instagram: "#weekendproject #Easterweekend #bankholiday #growyourownfood #flowergarden There are 1000s of seeds in a packet of sunflower seeds from the supermarket. Just sow a few and this summer, plant them in your garden and you will be rewarded with a beautiful display of sunflowers."
Simon Akeroyd on Instagram: "Winning at life! Infinity glitch of sweet peas. An almost endless supply of sweet pea plants. Once sweet pea plants have three sets of leaves they should be pinched back to just above the first set of leaves. This produces a healthier, bushier sweet pea, instead of it going leggy. Place these sweet pea tops in water. They will produce roots after about three weeks and became additional sweet pea plants for you. You could then pinch the tips out of these new sweet pea plants and repeat the process. Thus rewarding you with loads and loads of sweet pea plants from just originally a few seeds. #gardening #freeplants #growyourown"
