Spell it with Fabric- setting directionsIt seems so sad that today is the final day of the Spell it with Fabric blog hop. By now you have 26 letters, 9 numbers and some fun punctuation patterns. You have received some ideas on different things the designers did with their letters. Edyta put her daughters name on the back of the quilt with some of the letters. http://laundrybasketquilts.com/blog/2014/02/19/l-is-for-love/ Bunny Hill appliqued on top of her pieced letter. http://bunnyhillblog.com/2014/02/17/moda-blog-hop/ Minick and…

Spell it with FabricA couple of weeks ago, Moda hosted a blog hop called "Spell it with Fabric". I pinned every single alphabet and number and punctuation mark, and you can find it on my Pinterest board here. It was so much fun to choose the fabrics!!! I chose red for "A" because it reminds me of apple. "B" is for blue. "C" is for my cute little grand daughter Charlotte, and me, Cynthia. This fabric is Mary Engelbreit, which makes me think of cherries. I just like the blue and gold together ;) I love this olive…
Alphabet Baby QuiltThis is Rae's Alphabet quilt and she appliqued all the letters by hand with a blanket stitch. She used a great collection of vintage fabrics for this quilt making it perfect for a baby. I quilted tiny loops in the background and SID around the letters. Then quilted piano keys in the outer border. You can see all the white air bubbles frozen in the ice. I took this picture a few days ago and the ice is now all cracked and cloudy from our warmer temperatures.

Alphabet QuiltThis is the panel that drew me away from paper crafting and back into my sewing space. For a long time I’ve wanted to make an alphabet quilt. But I didn’t want to make the letters and I wanted them to look artsy. When I bought this panel, I didn’t know it was a Marcia Derse design. No wonder I love this panel. (Not to worry, all those prewash wrinkles will disappear as I work with the panel) I didn’t need to worry about wonky with this panel. The alphabet is intentionally somewhat wonky so…
Fun with ABCs :: Fastest Quilt Ever!My shop recently received some cute kid prints. Included with the line is the adorable panel. The panel is 36" by width of fabric. So I took a panel home along with a backing fabric and binding. This was one of the easiest and fastest kid quilts I've ever made. I quilted it simply by outlining the blocks and going around the "tape measure" border. It took me a little over an hour to baste and quilt it! Seriously, I brought it home Saturday afternoon after the shop closed at 3 pm. I had the…
