Faced with the task of preparing multiple birdhouse parts, all with large drilled holes, I decided to create a shroud to contain and collect the inevitable tidal wave of sawdust.

I’ve seen lots of drill-press dust-collection tips over the years, but they all seem kind of rickety, with all kinds of articulated arms and such. I just wanted something simple. So, I drilled a hole in the vacuum nozzle to fit the shaft of a T-bolt. With the bolt’s head in the drill-press table’s T-track, a couple of quick twists of the bolt’s knob secures the nozzle wherever needed. —George Sicord, Port Elgin, Ont.
