Gun Owners of America Lauds Mexico Smackdown By SCOTUS

Gun Owners of America issued a press release of the smackdown of Mexico's lawsuit against U.S. gun manufacturers.

It reads in part:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 5, 2025

Washington, D.C. – Gun Owners of America (GOA), alongside Gun Owners Foundation (GOF) and a nationwide coalition of Second Amendment advocates, is celebrating today’s 9-0 decision by the U.S. Supreme Court rejecting the Mexican government’s radical attempt to sue American gun manufacturers for cartel violence fueled by Mexico’s own failed disarmament policies.

The case, Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc. v. Estados Unidos Mexicanos, marked an unprecedented effort by a foreign government to hold lawful U.S. businesses liable for criminal acts committed entirely outside the United States. GOA previously filed an amicus brief urging the Court to dismiss the case as a dangerous affront to American sovereignty and gun rights.

In its unanimous opinion, the Court held that Mexico’s lawsuit “attempts an end-run around the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA),” and affirmed that American gun makers cannot be held liable for the criminal misuse of firearms by third parties—especially foreign cartels.

RFK Jr. and Coca-Cola

One of things HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is proposing is removing high fructose corn syrup from soft drinks, such as Coca-Cola.

Some people are squeaking over this proposal. They act like Coke has always has high fructose corn syrup.

Actually, it wasn't until 1984 that Coke replaced cane sugar with the corn syrup.

From Reader's Digest:

Ready for a shock? Coca-Cola only stopped using real cane sugar in the U.S. in 1984. I had always assumed this happened in, like, 1950. Or maybe after Coca-Cola stopped putting actual cocaine in the formula (which was really a thing, but they took that out in 1903, thank heavens). But Coke didn’t swap out cane sugar for high-fructose corn syrup in the U.S. until the mid-1980s. Yep. Ronald Reagan was president. Madonna was in her “Like a Virgin” phase. And quietly, in factories across America, corn syrup was sneaking into your soda. What a time to be alive!

Notice that Mexican Coca-Cola tastes different, and better, than U.S. Coke? It is because they still use cane sugar.

Mexico Rolls Back Its New Tax On Cruise Ship Visitors

After much criticism (justifiably so), Mexico has rolled back its tax on cruise ship passengers.

It was first set at $42 per passenger, but the government has rolled that back to $5.

According to Fox News:

A tourism tax was rocking the boats in the cruise industry, imposing a charge on passengers.

A $42 immigration levy for every passenger on cruise ships that dock in Mexico was voted in by the country’s congress back in December, The Associated Press reported at the time.

The Non-Resident Duty was to begin collection on Jan. 1 of this year.

Then, due to strong criticism, the tax was pushed back to July.

Now the tax has been dropped to $5 and will be implemented on July 1, the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) confirmed to Fox News Digital.

What Supreme Court Justices Said About Mexico’s Lawsuit

Mexico's case against U.S. gun manufacturers is being heard before the Supreme Court.

Instead of taking responsibility for their lack of prosecutions against drug cartels, Mexico is trying to hold gun manufacturers liable.

America's 1st Freedom reported:

On March 4, the U.S. Supreme Court justices heard oral arguments from opposing attorneys in Smith & Wesson v. Estados Unidos Mexicanos, a civil suit in which Mexico—with the help of U.S. gun-control proponents—is suing American gun companies for $10 billion because of violence committed by Mexican drug cartels on Mexican citizens.

This case is so obviously founded upon anti-gun politics that, in an amicus brief to the Court on the case, the NRA states, “Mexico has extinguished its constitutional arms right and now seeks to extinguish America’s.”

Gun-control groups and politicians who embrace gun bans and other anti-gun efforts are supporting Mexico’s suit.

The politics of the anti-Second Amendment groups and individuals supporting this lawsuit are so clear that the justices began by attempting to determine what law or statute the American companies had allegedly broken.

This led to legal discussion on a “predicate exception” to a 2005 law—the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA)—that specifically bars frivolous suits that attempt to hold a lawful manufacturer, distributor or seller of a firearm responsible if that product was later used in a criminal manner by a third party.

The attorney representing gun makers, Noel Francisco, pointed out early on that if “Mexico is right, then every law-enforcement organization in America has missed the largest criminal conspiracy in history operating right under their nose, and [according to this illogical deduction’] Budweiser [would be] liable for every accident caused by underage drinkers since it knows that teenagers will buy beer, drive drunk and crash.”

As the hearing went on, some of the justices echoed this concern.

SCOTUS To Hear Mexico's Lawsuit Against U.S. Gun Manufacturers

The lawsuit by Mexico against U.S. gun manufacturers will be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court. The case will be heard tomorrow.

USA Today reported:

WASHINGTON − A federal law that protects the firearm industry didn’t stop the parents of the victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting from going after the gun maker.

But in the first test of the law before the Supreme Court on Tuesday, the justices are expected to cast a more skeptical eye on Mexico’s attempt to hold American gun companies responsible for the violence caused by drug cartels armed with U.S.-made weapons.

This time, gun violence prevention groups worry the Supreme Court could side with gun makers in a way that would go far beyond this dispute between Mexico and American gun companies.

California Sides With Mexico Against US Gun Industry

Besides turning California into a hellhole cesspool, radical Democrat liberals have been trying to diminish Second Amendment rights.

Gun control radicals are siding with Mexico against gun manufacturers and the Second Amendment.

According to the Buckeye Firearms Association:

The willingness of some in the U.S. to aid a foreign power in an assault on American industry and Americans’ Constitutional rights is sad and disturbing.

On Jan. 17, California Attorney General Rob Bonta proclaimed his support for Mexico’s position in the ongoing case Smith & Wesson Brands Inc, et al. v. Estados Unidos Mexicanos. The case, now at the U.S. Supreme Court, is an attempt by the Mexican government, working with U.S.-based gun control advocates, to undo the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), make the U.S. firearms industry a scapegoat for Mexican lawlessness, and impose billions of dollars in liability on American gun manufacturers for violence perpetrated by violent criminals south of the border.

Readers should know that the PLCAA was enacted in 2005, with broad bipartisan support, to protect the firearms industry from frivolous and politically motivated lawsuits. In the mid-1990s, gun control advocates, big city politicians, and trial attorneys teamed up to use the courts to bilk the gun industry for millions and force them to agree to gun control measures that gun control supporters were unable to enact in Congress. The suits sought to hold members of the industry liable for the criminal behavior of those who misused their products.

I, for one, am glad that I moved out of Commiefornia. This coming week will mark seven years since I did so.

Mexico Passes $42 Immigration Tax for Cruise Passengers

There's nothing like being welcomed as a tourist to a foreign country. Unless, of course, that country wants to charge tourists an immigration levy who arrive aboard a cruise ship.

According to AP News:

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Cruise ship industry players are up in arms after the lower house of Mexico’s Congress voted this week to charge a $42 immigration levy for every passenger on cruise ships that dock in Mexico.

Two-thirds of the money raised, moreover, would go to the Mexican army, not to improve port facilities.

The Mexican Association of Shipping Agents cried foul late Thursday, saying the charges could make Mexico uncompetitively expensive for cruise ships.

In the past, cruise ship passengers had been exempted from the immigration fee, because they sleep aboard the vessels and some don’t even get off the ship during port calls. They would apparently be charged the $42 fee anyway, according to the new budget law.

Grisham Calls For Special Session For Gun Control

New Mexico Gov. "Malevolent" Michelle Lujan Grisham is calling for a special session of the legislature to take up "public safety protections", which is her euphemism for gun control.

However, if this special session is for dealing with the southern border that the Mexican cartels control, then I would be for it. But she previously said that she wants her gun control proposals passed and may call a special session to do it.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican:

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced Wednesday she will call the Legislature into a special session July 18 "to take up additional public safety protections that New Mexicans demand."

“While we made some progress toward a safer New Mexico during the 30-day day session, we agree that we must do more,” Lujan Grisham said in a statement.

“The special session in July will enable us to deliver additional statutory changes that reduce the danger and risk New Mexico communities face every day," she said. "The best proposals for making our state safer will be under consideration, and I welcome input from my colleagues in the legislature."

She couldn't get all that she wanted during the legislature's regular session in infringing upon New Mexican's Second Amendment rights, so she is trying to ram them through in a special session. Despicable!

SCOTUS: Texas Can’t Block Federal Agents From Border

Above, Texas and U.S. flags along freeway between Dallas and Fort Worth. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The U.S. Supreme Court upheld a long-standing rule that the federal government has sole authority to enforce border protection laws.

Unfortunately, the federal government, under His Fraudulency Joe Biden, is not enforcing the border. They are allowing thousands of illegal aliens to flood into the country.

The Texas Tribune reported:

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday ordered Texas to allow federal border agents access to the state’s border with Mexico, where Texas officials have deployed miles of concertina wire.

The order did not explain justices’ decisions. For now, it effectively upholds longstanding court rulings that the Constitution gives the federal government sole responsibility for border security.

In October of last year, Texas sued the federal government after Border Patrol agents cut some of the wire strung along the Rio Grande, arguing the Department of Homeland Security destroyed the state’s property and interfered in Texas’ border security efforts.

The 5-4 order from the Supreme Court vacated a previous injunction from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that prevented Border Patrol agents from cutting the concertina wire.

The ruling would have been fine if the court ordered the Biden Administration to enforce border security. But they didn't.

Block Introduces Border Barrier Funding Bill

Source: Press Release

ALAMOGORDO, N.M.—On Friday, New Mexico state Rep. John Block (R-Alamogordo) announced H.B. 111 to spend $1.5 billion of New Mexico’s surplus revenues on the completion of the border barrier between Mexico and New Mexico. The current amount of unfinished border barrier between them is approximately 50.3 open miles.

The appropriation follows the current market rate of border barriers, as done in the neighboring state of Texas, at approximately $30 million per mile.

As the border catastrophe continues under the current Joe Biden regime, which has done worse than nothing to stop the flow of illegal substances and immigrants into the country, the need to protect New Mexicans and migrants from deadly drugs, human trafficking, terrorism, and other criminal activity, is now a pandemic.

According to official reports, over seven million illegal immigrants have flooded into the United States under the Biden regime.

As Voice of America reported on January 3, 2024, “U.S. officials processed an estimated 300,000 people at the U.S. border with Mexico in December, which would be the highest number ever recorded, according to multiple news organizations.”

In recent history, New Mexico saw a record-breaking fentanyl drug bust, with one such seizure of over 1 million fentanyl pills, per the FBI.

With the truly criminal failure of the Joe Biden administration to stop the border crisis, our border state is now forced to do the job of the federal government to protect our citizens. I will not stand idly by and allow my constituents to continue to be saddled with the consequences of Biden’s failures,” said Rep. Block.

In 2023, I sponsored a memorial to bring awareness to the humanitarian catastrophe on our border, but it was killed by radical Democrats who refused to acknowledge this crisis on our doorstep. There is no better way to spend these excess revenues than by protecting our residents.” continued the representative.

Now that records are being shattered with the unparalleled numbers of illegal border crossings and tons of fentanyl flowing in, maybe now Democrats will finally begin to act to protect their constituents’ safety from this unprecedented border catastrophe. People continue dying daily due to the Cartel’s caravan of deadly fentanyl and human exploitation. The depravity and inhumanity must end — and I will do everything in my power to make that happen.

Peru 'Aliens' Are 'Unknown Species'

Above, a display at the Roswell International UFO Museum. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

In September, I posted about strange mummified bodies found in Peru that were presented to the Mexico's Congress.

The researcher who presented the bodies now says DNA from them "are not from any known species."

Newsmax reported:

The researcher who presented mummified remains from Peru to Mexico's Congress as evidence of "nonhuman" aliens on Earth now claims that tests confirm these remains contain DNA that is "not from any known species."

JosΓ© Jaime Maussan, a Mexican journalist and UFO researcher, presented the mummified remains to Mexico's Congress in September claiming at the time that testing showed that "these specimens are not part of our terrestrial evolution."

RV Border Crossing Tips

Above, San Ysidro border crossing. Dept. of Homeland Security photo.

Over the years, I have been to Mexico once and to Canada twice. Never have I been to either country in an RV.

RV Life has posted an article with tips on crossing the border to each country.

There apparently are special rules involving crossing the border in an RV. My late aunt and uncle used to drive their Class A motorhome down to San Felipe quite often. They never ran into any problems that I am aware of. They traveled there back in the 1970s and 1980s.

RV Life begins their article with:

RVing is a popular practice around the world, so many travelers want to take international trips. Lots of RVers dream of taking the long pilgrimage through Canada to Alaska, while others want to enjoy the sunny weather in Mexico. But there are rules you need to follow if a border crossing is part of your trip.

With the right preparation, you can absolutely drive an RV into another country. You just need to be prepared for additional security checks and a few restrictions. You’ll definitely need to plan ahead if you want to cross international borders because these are carefully guarded. Make sure you have all your necessary documents in hand and ditch any forbidden items.

Fortunately, plenty of RVers have been in your shoes, so you don’t have to figure everything out yourself. There are well-established rules and practices at each border, although the specifics may vary depending on whether you’re going to Canada or Mexico. Let’s take a closer look at the ins and outs of an RV border crossing.

Fossilized Alien Corpses Presented to Mexican Congress

Above, one of the fossilized alien remains.

We are not alone.

Well, if the following is to be believed, we aren't the only ones to inhabit the universe.

From American Wire News:

A Mexican journalist and ufologist presented the alleged corpses of two 1,000-year-old mummified aliens to the Mexican Congress in glass display cases Tuesday during the government’s first hearing on UFOs.

“They are non-human beings that are not part of our terrestrial evolution,” journalist and ufologist Jaime Maussan testified under oath before the Mexican Congress.

The two small corpses appeared to have three fingers on each hand, unknown DNA, and eggs inside one of them, according to the Daily Mail. The bodies seemed to have retractable necks and elongated skulls that are more typical of birds. They were also found to have strong, light bones and no teeth according to the presenter.

The ufologist claimed that researchers at the Autonomous National University of Mexico had already conducted Carbon 14 analysis on the bodies verifying their age. The bodies were reportedly found in mines in Cusco, Peru. They were allegedly buried in diatomaceous earth, or ancient phytoplankton algae.

“These aren’t beings that were found after a UFO wreckage. They were found in diatom mines and were later fossilized,” he claimed. “Whether they are aliens or not, we don’t know, but they were intelligent, and they lived with us. They should rewrite history… We are not alone in this vast universe, we should embrace this reality.”

Current Value of Mexican Gold and Silver Coins

Above, a 1953 Hildago Commemorative 5 Peso silver coin. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

When I opened my dad's strongbox that hadn't been opened for over 23 years (I had no key), inside was a Mexican silver coin. It was a 1953 Hildago Silver Commemorative 5 peso coin. Until I did some checking after finding it, I did not know what it was. There were other Mexican coins inside the strongbox, but were not made of silver.

I was reminded of this find when I saw an article this morning (from Saturday) on the current value of Mexican gold and silver coins at Breaking Latest News.

The article starts out with:

Today, Saturday, July 8, 2023 – The Mexican gold and silver coins continue to attract keen interest from investors due to their low-risk investment opportunities and status as a reliable financial refuge. Unlike other investment products, investing in these coins is considered a stable option with potentially high returns.

However, potential investors must keep in mind that the value of Mexican gold and silver coins fluctuates daily due to changes in the international market prices of precious metals and the peso-to-dollar exchange rate.

Moreover, the valuation of these coins may vary depending on the institution through which the transaction is made.

Anyone with an interest in Mexican gold and silver coins, the article is worth a look.

Silver's Role In Mexico's History and Future

Above, a 1953 Hildago five peso silver coin. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Did you know that Mexico is the world's main exporter of silver? Yes, it's true. Mexico produced over 135 million ounces of refined silver in 2022.

Mexico News Daily posted an article on silver's role in Mexico's history and may well play a big role in its future.

It begins with:

For all the hype about “Aztec gold” in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, Mexico’s classic measure of wealth has been silver — and it may be its future.

Prized equally on both sides of the Atlantic, TenochtitlΓ‘n overlords demanded the metal as tribute from places like Taxco, Guerrero, long before the Spanish arrived.

When conquistador HernΓ‘n CortΓ©s entered the capital, Moctezuma hoped to placate him with gifts, including large quantities of gold and silver. However, the strategy backfired, making the Spanish more determined to take over.

Although Mexico did (and does) have gold, its vast deposits of silver have been central to its history and economy since.

1953 Hidalgo Silver Commemorative

Above, the reverse of the Hildago Silver Commemorative. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

While going through the coins I found in the strong box I had a locksmith open, I found a Mexican five peso coin from 1953.

It is called the Hidalgo Silver Commemorative.

It is the size of a U.S. silver dollar. As I knew nothing about the coin, I took a look online to learn about it.

It turns out that the coin is a circulating commemorative silver coin celebrating the bicentennial of Hidalgo's birth.

Hurricane Roslyn Hits Pacific Coast of Mexico

Hurricane Roslyn is hitting Mexico as a Category 4 hurricane.

Its path, according to current forecasts, has it going in a northeast direction. It appears that it may affect Texas and maybe Louisiana. But some clouds can be sent into New Mexico. It is one storm we should keep an eye on. It could veer a little bit more west, which would then definitely affect New Mexico.

First Mexican Hurricane

Above, Barking Spider Road partially washed away last July by a monsoon. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The first Mexican hurricane of 2022 is now forming over the Pacific Ocean and its track will carry it over the Mexican isthmus and into the Gulf of Mexico. This caught my attention.

According to the Associated Press:

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The first hurricane of the season formed off Mexico’s southern Pacific coast Sunday and rapidly gained power ahead of an expected strike along a stretch of tourist beaches and fishing towns as a major storm.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Agatha was expected to make landfall as a powerful Category 3 hurricane Monday afternoon or evening in the area near Puerto Escondido and Puerto Angel in the southern state of Oaxaca — a region that includes the laid-back tourist resorts of Huatulco, Mazunte and Zipolite.

The center warned that the hurricane could deliver a dangerous storm surge.

This hurricane won't affect New Mexico with any monsoon rains. Hurricanes that form further north of the Pacific Ocean and over Baja California do produce monsoon rains in the Southwest. Monsoons usually start around June 15 and go into the end of September.

Last summer, we had a couple of good ones. One of them partially washed away Barking Spider Road, which left some ruts that I had to repair.
