Birthday Boy

There is a special day coming up on Sunday, 4th of July.  It is even better in my home, it is my oldest son's birthday.  To honor both we do not insist on having only flags for his birthday theme, this year he picked Iron Man.  However we do decorate the house with flags.

Today we are not seeing PINK but RED as Pink Saturday after all, as Beverly from How Sweet the Sound said, PINK is a derivative of RED.

Even the shed is wearing a FLAG!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHASE!
Happy 4th of July to EVERYONE!

Pink Petals

It is time again for PINK SATURDAY with Beverly at How Sweet The Sound

I am taking you back out into my gardens for the day.  My perennials are really starting to bloom, my favorites are the peonies.  I wish you could hear the birds and smell the flowers, it is just beautiful out here.

Just be careful my youngest son said it is dangerous on one of the walkways, the roses are getting ready to bloom and they seem to be in attack mode.

Thank you for stopping by.  Be careful on the way out, the roses might bite.

A Little Pink In The Writing

For over seven years now I have been making special pens for my children to give as gifts to their teachers for the Holidays or whenever there was a special event.  You may be thinking great the same gift every time, how thoughtful, not.  But wait until you see what it is.  I am joining Beverly at How Sweet The Sound and all the other wonderful bloggers for PINK SATURDAY.

Of course my favorite Pens are the pink ones.  I do not just make the pens with roses.  I also use Tulips and Daisies for Spring events, Poinsettias for Christmas and Sunflowers and Mums for fall.  For the last day of school my kids present their teachers with a whole bouquet.

This year for Mother's Day my son's teacher turned the tables on me and they made the Rose pens for all the mothers of the kids.  I love it when creativity is passed on.  I also sold the pens in my old shop Clara Louise's Painted Cottage.

Thank you for visiting me and have a wonderful weekend.

Quilted Pinks

It's Saturday and that means PINK SATURDAY with Beverly at How Sweet The Sound.  I think this is my four time doing PINK SATURDAY and I am not even linked up to that link party.  I keep forgetting to email Beverly early in the week, so I do not get linked to her blog, but I still send everyone over to check all the other PINKS out.  WHY?  Because I like PINK SATURDAY!  One of these days I will remember to send her that email and it will be official, until then:

Please enjoy some of my collection of quilts.

My favorite quilts are the ones that are not perfect.  They show that they were used during their lifetime.  I have been saving many of these quilts to use for various projects.  I would love to frame some of the beautiful patterns or  make pillows.  I am also going to try using one for a slipcover and use one to upholster one of my small chairs.  I use my quilts as tablecloths and bed coverings, they do not just collect dust or hide away in a closet waiting for that perfect day.  They have gotten stains on them and been torn, but I think the women who made them did not make them as show pieces but to be useful to them.

Thank you for stopping by to visit my PINKS and have a wonderful day!

Pink Saturday

Join me today for PINK SATURDAY and all the other PINKIES here with Beverly at How Sweet The Sound.

I finally have some flowers in bloom now. The first one is Double Pink Flowering Almond.  Now I planted three of these several years ago.  One died, too much water.  The other two should, I say should be larger because of the age if it were not for BAD BUNNIES.  The only reason it is so big this year is that our dog Cooper keeps the BAD BUNNIES out of the fenced in area.

The next picture is of an apple tree my husband's grandfather planted some 40 or 50 years ago.  The acreage in our back yard should be full of fruit trees that his grandfather used to farm.   However, due to whatever reasons, we only have a few real old ones left and since they have not been sprayed in so many years the fruit is real      bad.
I wish I could take the picture that shows how amazingly beautiful it is right now.  This is what our little fruit trees look like.  I was 5 months pregnant with my oldest son when we planted 50 trees.  There are only about 15 left, dang deer and BAD BUNNIES.

I love to go and cut branches to bring in to put on the kitchen table and around the house.  The look great in white pitchers.
Apple blossoms smell so pretty but not pear YUCK!
I hope you enjoyed my pink.  Now I have to get back to weeding.

I'm in the "Pink Saturday"

This is my first Pink Saturday.  I have not always loved pink, but I have always loved roses, and so the two came together in my home.  However, I have in the past two years started gravitating towards white, and the pink is slowly being put away or collects in the dinning room and my daughters' room.  My favorite rose is the beautiful cabbage roses that bloom all summer long, a pink hat I collected and still have in my office, pink roses on the teacups and saucers that I still can not stop collecting. They all are cellebrated in the dinningroom during Christmas, when I make my tea cup tree. Then they are put away, at least until the next summer tea party with the children.  Here is my PINK. I found out about PINK SATURDAY  through this Beverly's blog and I have seen the PINK SATURDAY sign on several blogs.  Of course now I have to figure out how to get the words to be PINK.
