Basement Bargain Treasures

My father has a thing for houses, he seems to collect them like I do chairs, only mind don't pay rent.
In his latest conquest he came upon some vintage ornaments in the basement.
Knowing how much of a Christmas freak I am, he called to see if I wanted them.
Well of course I do!

I think the pink bells are my favorite.

These gold pinecones would look great on the basement tree.

Some of the pink ornaments will go on my daughter's tree.

Just look at this indented one with the Santa inside.
In fact, I saw a repros being sold of this one.

The box is just full of vintage ornaments.
I can't wait to fill a bowl of them.

Thanks Pop!

New Finds and A New Friend

Sunday I went to one of my favorite flea markets at the Port of Entry Square.
It is not the largest by far, but I have been going to this flea market for at least 20 years.

And

It has sentimental value.
It is where my first shop was located and I have such good memories of my old shop.

I found some great treasures.
The best one of all is a fellow blogger who lives in the same town as I do.
Lynne from Wonderfully Made.

At first I was excited to see a new vendor at the flea market, and one who has great treasures.
Oh, I would have liked to take home more than what I did.

A LOT!

There were two great framed maps that would have looked wonderful in my boy's room
BUT I think they are going with the Star Wars theme.
Then I started talking to Lynne and found out she is a blogger and lives local to me.

Here is some of my treasures.

I found the cutest pair of vintage cowboy curtains.
I will make my boys some pillows for their bunk beds.

Cute little ironstone pitchers and a simple silver cup.
These are a few of the treasures I acquired from Lynne.

A simple blue striped cotton shower curtain that will be made into pillows.

A twin coverlet also from Lynne's booth.
They make the best slipcovers, so soft and such texture.

A new quilt to add to my collection.
My good friend Nancy always has beautiful quilts.
Like I said, this is the summer of accepting blue for me.

A darling little birdhouse for my feathered friends.

An amazing aqua bench that has already found a home in my downstairs bathroom.
The little shelf is great for holding extra towels and magazines.

a simple zinc sap bucket that I plan to embellish with some graphics.
I like the height, it will work perfect for my white hydrangeas.

I also found the amazing black frame and a little white bench at Lynne's booth.
I wasn't kidding when I told her how excited I was that she was at the flea market.
She has a great eye.
I am really wishing I had bought one of the maps, maybe she will be at the next flea market in August.

Thanks for stopping by.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer!

Treasures on a Thursday

I had to run some errands today.
On my way home, I stopped at one of my favorite antique dealers.
I am never disappointed when I visit.

He always has a white table or three for me.
He knows I can't leave them behind when he throws such good prices at me.

So, they all came home with me!

Come on, don't even tell me you would have left them behind.
Seriously!

Oh yeah, another chair.
This chippy little white darling is going in my gardens.

Did you count them?
I know you did.
Actually there are four tables there.
The iron tables are two separate ones.
Perfect for my deck!

Oh, I already told you.

I HAVE A TABLE PROBLEM!

How could I resist those casters.

and

That wood and white combination.

I can never resist these little drawer tables.
This little darling is the perfect size for an entry or any spot in my house for that matter.

Back to my errands, one stop I had to make was to have a mammogram.
OK ladies, I have to say that I was wrong, wrong, wrong, not to have done this four years ago.

Does it hurt?

Yeah, some.
But I can handle a little pain that lasted a mere seconds each time they took the picture.
They only had to take 4 pictures.

I did not wait around for the results, they will call or send me a report.

I am here to say, if you are holding off on doing it because someone said it might hurt.
Stop waiting, get it done.
Maybe you will be rewarded with treasures too!

How is your day going?

Me, I'm off to clean some tables.
And put a dent in the 10 yards of mulch we had delivered yesterday.

The Beast is Back

I had to make a special trip and bring home the BEAST.

Several months ago we dropped off my husband's Lazy Boy at the upholsters.
Oh yeah it is back. More heavy sarcasm!

I picked a pretty cream fabric with design for the front and white denim for the sides and back.

I will be painting the base and the handle white this weekend.
Mr. M. is very happy to have his chair back.  He agreed to the fabric choices so he could keep his chair.
I will agree that it is very comfortable and it lasted through three children being fed and rocked in the chair.
BUT
I still HATE this chair.
It takes up so much room.
Put it in the basement you say, well I did think of that too, but I kind of whited up that room too.
Poor Mr. M. - that is what my girl Sara is saying, I just know it.
So the chair stays upstairs and I am ok with that.
For now!

I do love the ruffle at the bottom.

To take away some of my frustration, I decided to visit a few fun shops.
I was able to find a few treasures, I usually am lucky like that.

A good bounty for a great price.

Seriously, can anyone have too much ironstone.

This little guy looks great in the kitchen.

A new chippy wood shelf for the basement, I am not sure if the blue is staying yet.

This little tool holder is going to be used for silverware and necessities for having dinner on the deck.
Overall I had a good day out.

Now the chair is home and we have happy husband.
Funny thing is, he is the one throwing telling the kids to stay away from his chair with their dirty hands.

So, how about you, do you have one of these chairs to decorate around?

Time Away

No need to send out a search party, I'm not lost in the gardens either.

I spent the weekend in Pennsylvania visiting my BFF from high school.
To say that I had fun would be an understatement.

I laughed so much!
It fed my soul!

I wish that I did not have to wait another year until I go back.

Oh, and we shopped, and shopped and shopped, until we were both exhausted.
I found some wonderful treasures that I thought I would share with you.

I was able to find plenty of WHITES to add to my collection.
In fact, it seemed that we found almost everything we were looking for, and it became kind of a joke.

Some pocket watches for me to make some neat necklaces with.

I found lots of great architectural salvage, self brackets and corbels.

Pitchers, platters, buttons and wood oh my.

A cheap matching set of tureens just waiting for me to put my plants in.

I just love the little pitchers.
The column base is not too bad either.

I am thinking the shutter will work great for a new sign.

I think this pair is probably my favorite find.
Don't you think they will look great in my gardens.

One thing I kept looking for was a swan at a reasonable price.
No luck.

BUT, look what I found in my back yard yesterday a beautiful white goose.
Way better than a swan any day, I have this sinking feeling Mr. M. is not going to let me keep him.
PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE!

Oh and I found out that you have to go through some interesting towns to get to Paradise.

I hope you all are having a wonderful summer!
I wish I could come and visit more, but my son's birthday is this weekend and I have so much to do.

Happy 4th.

Barn Shopping

Over the weekend we took the kids to my father's house to pick out pumpkins and I went barn shopping.
My fathers barns are full of so much stuff that I like to poke around looking for something that my father might want to part with.
Of course my kids just love his wife Bonnie so much.
So while the kids were playing with Bonnie, and Mr. M. was taking a nap in the chair, I wandered around looking for treasures.

I found some!

I think my husband cringes a little every time we visit my father's because I ALWAYS come home with something.
This was no exception.

.
Three pumpkins for the kids.  The red drawer I took with us to get repaired.
My father always has the right tools to fix anything.

I have been wanting a bird cage since I have been seeing them used as Halloween decorations.

Isn't it great!
I found it in my father's garage attic. My mom used to have a few birds as pets when we were little and this must from then.

The best part is; I don't even have to paint it.

Perfectly black and my crows have already moved in.

These are some Pee Gee Hydrangeas from their gardens.
I am hoping to make a wreath, I saw a beautiful one at The Fairfield House and I thought one would look nice on my door too.

I thought I was done with this post this morning, but I made a visit to my favorite Sally shop and I found a few more treasures I thought I would share with you.

Don't you just love that mantel!
It is huge and I am not sure where it is going, but after it is painted WHITE I will surely find a room that it will be great in.

The tall lamp, it works, but I don't care.
I didn't bother to tell the teller that I only wanted the bottom.

Seriously, why else would I buy it?

I already dismantled it and I think it is going to make a great Christmas tree base.
Yep, I am one of THOSE!
The people who think of Christmas all year.

The other little trinkets are to be used for Halloween decorations.
Don't even think I am done decorating for Halloween yet.
The kitchen island is packed full of spiders, skeletons and other oddities to craft with.
Hopefully I will be mostly done this weekend and then I will concentrate on the menu.

 My costume is finished.
Nope, you can't see until after the party guests, there is chance I may just win one of my own trophies this year.

Have a great day!
