Although the majority of the design is extremely simple, all the small details that define it have an instant impact on the onlooker. Landscape design is a very interesting genre that uses a smart combination of hardscaping, softscaping and beautiful lighting. The CAS design team tackled this curved landscape garden design project in London, UK with the utmost zeal. The client had requested a genial layout, an abundance of perennial plants and lighting for winter evenings with a small vegetable patch along the side. CAS designed a small Zen garden with curves as the major design attraction – a curved pathway and a curved water body – along with a combination of pathway and string lighting that light up the way to a small, cozy sitting area. Landscape Design Workshop has won the 2017 American Architecture Prize in the category of Landscape Architecture/Commercial for their project Botaniko Sales Gallery. This real estate sales gallery serves a newly developed 120-acre residential community with 125 custom homes located in the city of Weston, Florida. The sales gallery is composed of 2 main volumes connected by a “glass box”. The first volume is the reception area whereas the second space contains a model unit and sample materials. Combining two contradicting aesthetics in a singular building design is one of the most challenging aspects a designer can ever tackle in a project, but the CAS team managed to do it brilliantly in this Modern Arabic House Design in Basra, Iraq. The idea was to highlight the underlying tradition with a fine layer of modernity on the surface, so the end product turned out to be contemporary, yet Islamic at the same time. The CAS design team started off the architecture by emphasizing a water fountain on the exterior wall that extends throughout the interior spaces.
