Ship engineer Jim Taggert (John Litel) is rescued from a torpedoed tramp steamer by Joe Morgan (Alan Baxter), an American gangster that found New York too hot for him, and has become a fisherman operating from an out-of-the-way island off of the coast of South America.
Morgan makes his headquarters at the Halfway House run by the parents of Maria Styx (Fifi D'Orsay) as a bar and dance resort catering to the planters and traders of the island.
Taggert finds himself practically a prisoner along with a group of American girls acting as entertainers at the resort.
Taggert shadows Morgan in his activities in a remote cove and finds that Morgan is supplying German U-boat commanders with torpedoes.

Okay mister producer, you have the most farfetched plot imaginable for a World War II film, and an underachieving high school junior who failed current
...
events to write its cockamamie screenplay. Next you dip into the pool of wooden leading men to find the stiffest one possible, John Litel. Then for his sidekick you cast Eric Blore as a merchant seaman named Spike. (Yikes!!) To fill out the cast you drug and shanghai Alan Baxter and Fifi D'Orsay. Of course the result is a stunningly bad movie - that however gets three stars. Not exactly because it's so bad it's good in the "Plan 9" sense, but because it's a treat for lovers of bad films in general, and a must for students of the utterly absurd. If you're not in either of these eccentric groups, it still should be on your list, because this little disaster of a movie has plenty of entertainment value, albeit for all the wrong reasons.
CAST NOTES: For those who don't remember him, casting Eric Blore as a merchant seaman named Spike is like casting David Hyde Pierce as Braveheart. This is not to denigrate the great comic actor Eric Blore, who specialized in playing cantankerous British butlers and man servants. Fifi D'Orsay was sort of like a French Carmen Miranda, only not as good.

I have tried to watch this twice, and both times I had to turn it off. It's awful.
I might have given it a third chance, but I could barely hear it.

Aside from getting a few unintended laughs from the story, dialog, and acting this movie was, in a word, dull.
I downloaded the 698MB AVI file. Video ... quality is fair, with some dark scenes lost in compression artifacts and a greenish tint through most of the movie. Audio quality is good.
