an old black and white photo of a store front with the words triangle pharmacy on it
Triangle Pharmacy, 1230 W. Washington St at S. Hoover St, Los Angeles, circa 1929
The Triangle Pharmacy stood at 1230 W. Washington St at S. Hoover St, which put it a dozen blocks south of MacArthur Park. This photo is circa 1929, so MacArthur Park was still called Westlake Park. This was more of an old-fashioned pharmacy where you could weigh yourself, fill a prescription, drink a lemon phosphate, pick up a box of cigars, stock up on safety razors, and buy some film for your Kodak Brownie camera. And in 1929, all for probably under five bucks.
