Pair of Satsuma Vases with Wisteria
This exceptional and rare matching pair of Japanese Satsuma vases with wisteria exemplifies the pinnacle of Japanese earthenware. Exquisitely hand-painted and gilded, these vases feature serene and intricate wisteria designs. The bases are marked with "Zuizan for Koshida" along with "Japan" in English. Koshida was renowned for producing exceptionally high-quality earthenware, and Zuizan was the esteemed Satsuma artist who hand-painted these designs. According to legend, the finest Satsuma painters would go blind due to the intricacy of their detailed work.
