"Imagine a society in which the cycles of life are revered and respected as quiet orchestrators of our lives-- instilling a deep reverence for the planet and everything on it. Imagine that the menstrual cycle is understood as the heartbeat of the Great Orchestration, and most crucially, honored as the sacred sources of life for us humans."There is more to this quote. It creates a beautiful, vivid picture of EMPOWERED women. Read it here.
Regardless of how you feel about the intricacies of your cycle, it’s still important to understand how a PCOS cycle differs from a healthy cycle. Ovulation is a really important function of health. When we’re not ovulating properly, our body isn’t happy or healthy. There is this weird misconception (spurred by hormonal birth control) that it’s not necessary to have a regular period. I’m calling that out as complete bullshit.⠀Read the whole post to find out why!⠀

I realize that not everyone will share my enthusiasm of the menstrual cycle, and that’s okay! For me, learning about the intricacies of our cycles combined with the body literacy gained through learning FAM for contraception has really given me a huge appreciation for our bodies and all that they can do. The reflects a healthy, normal cycle.

If you have irregular periods, it's likely that you're experiencing oligo-ovulation. "Irregular" is used to describe cycles that are greater than or equal to 36 days. Are you surprised that it's not 28? Normal cycle lengths vary from 21 to 35 days and are perfectly healthy! So what can you do about it? Find out by reading this post!

There is an incredibly common misconception that, based on when your previous period was, you can accurately predict via app or math when your next ovulation date and/or period will be. This. Is. Not. True. And that statement goes for ALL women, not just PCOS women. Find out what ACTUALLY works on this post!

The idea that a 28 day cycle is the only healthy cycle is bullshit. Yup I said it. ⠀ These are a few of my questions: •How many women have been unnecessarily diagnosed with infertility because they’re timing BD around cycle day 14?⠀ •How many women believe there is something wrong with them because their cycles aren’t “regular”?⠀ •How many women have no clue that their birth control “period” isn’t real?⠀ •How many women believe that an app can predict their period?⠀ The answer: TOO MANY.⠀

This phase lasts between 10-18ish days. It’s the infamous PMS phase before your bleed. The reason that women experience so many symptoms in the phase is because there are a LOT of hormonal going-ons here. Several hormones are dropping and ones going up, and then at menstruation they’re all at their lowest again! Read the whole post and learn how to work WITH this phase in your cycle!

Honestly, the menstrual cycle should really be called the ovulation cycle. The whole thing is about prepping eggs, fertilizing eggs, reabsorbing eggs, and then (finally) shedding lining. Sounds like it’s a lot more about the eggs than the bleed, right? Follow me on IG to read this whole post!

It’s a race, baby!⠀⠀ Okay, so honestly, whenever I think about this phase, I think of a horse race. Sexy, right? Hear me out though. I know (hope) that we all know what happens during this phase. Our body starts maturing several follicles (up to 20!) which all hold an egg. Eventually it’s clear that one follicle (or two!) is the most dominate and that’s the follicle that then releases the egg. So… kinda feels like a race right? Read about harnessing the power of your follicular phase on IG!

It's time to switch to this earth friendly (and vagina friendly) option! The Menstrual Cup!Women use between 11-30 tampons/pads PER CYCLE. So over your lifetime you're looking at an average of 10,000ish tampons/pads which is around 300lbs of waste (give or take a few lbs). Additionally you're probably buying a new box each cycle which on average is $7-$10, and using 3-6 items per day. That's nearly $2,000 spent on tampons/pads in a lifetime!⁣ See the full post on IG! @pcoshealthcoaching
