This portrait study is after Sir Thomas Lawrence’s “Portrait of Julia, Lady Peel”, which was painted in 1827. This Lawrence portrait has such a fresh feel and I love how effortless he made it look. It may have been effortless for him, but that certainly wasn’t the case for me. The expression of Julia’s face looks as though she is just about to say something.
