Configuring: Email Code

This will email a link to the secret message to someone.

The email will contain a random code that must be entered to retrieve the secret message. This will mean the link to the message by itself won't be enough to retrieve the message.

You can customize the email if you wish (the placeholders [URL] and [CODE] will be replaced by us)

Specify the password that must be entered to retrieve the message.

  • This password will be used to encrypt your message.
  • Your message will not be able to be retrieved by anyone (not even us) if the password is misplaced.
  • If password attempts exceed the maximum number below, the message will be destroyed.
  • Server side encryption: maximum compatibility for decryption.
  • Client side encryption: no need to trust autoexpire.com.

Configuring: Download limit

Specify the number of times that the information may be retrieved. Max 20 retrievals.


Configuring: Access Notifications

Receive an emailed alert every time the secure message is successfully retrieved.


Configuring: Time limit

Specify the time limit that the information must be retrieved in. The message cannot be retrieved after this period of time.


Configuring: Accessibility Date

The message will not be able to be accessed until a certain amount of time has passed from now.


Configuring: IP address restriction

This setting adds an IP address restriction to the message.

If someone tries to retrieve the message, they'll be automatically denied access unless their unique internet IP address matches the value that is set here.

A single IP address may be entered, or a range of addresses using IP/subnet format, eg: 123.67.21.0/24



Note: The recipient can view their public IP address by searching "what is my IP address" or you can ask them to go here and tell you the address they see.

Note: If their IP address starts with 192.168... or 10.0.0... or 172... it's probably an internal private IP address that they're looking at, which is not a globally routable IP address, don't enter it here.
