I listened to this album once, and as soon as it was finished I started it over and listened to it all the way through again. I can't remember the last time I did that. Bruit are carrying the torch of contemporary music, in my opinion. The spirit of musical ambition and innovation lives in them. This is an era ahead of anything that anyone else is doing right now. A truly modern work of art that stands alone in the now.

The drastic pivot Angles have taken on this album is unexpected, yet stunning. Elle-Kari's remarkably delirious vocals imbue it with a gripping unease. The dense musical backdrop beneath is absolutely sublime - a hypnotic and haunting avant-garde jazz purgatory. Somehow Angles omitted most of the Mingus-esque big band madness that made me love them over the past decade, only to astound me with an elegantly apocalyptic, cryptically pensive and ornate dark-jazz opera. A transcendent album.
