    Alisa Alisa
This and The Doldrums are far and away two of the best records Ariel recorded during his, "ashram era." It has so many bangers and also some great deep cuts aside from the obvious Alisa, Gettin' High In The Morning and Helen. Plus the remaster sounds great.

    III. Universe III. Universe
The concept album to end all concept albums. Dude wakes up on a beach to see his family leaving him and some sort of dark army sailing towards him, so he runs up a mountain, talks to the Universe with no reply, keeps walking up, Universe talks to him, meets a mean motherfucker called King Dark Death at the summit who kills him and leaves his body for vultures to eat, only for him to become one with the universe, along with some of the most stunningly cinematic production I've heard on a record.
  14. The Doldrums
    by Ariel Pink
    Among Dreams Among Dreams
It's like being nic-sick on a horrifically hot and muggy day while surrounded by sort of annoying but not really forest spirits.
  15. Odditties Sodomies Vol. 2
    by Ariel Pink
This Night Has Opened My Eyes This Night Has Opened My Eyes
This isn't my favourite of the Odditties series, but it's definitely up there. Stray Here With You, Gates of Xiong, This Night Has Opened My Eyes (which is better than the original by a landslide) and Chart-Beep might be some of my new favourite Ariel songs. Worth picking up if you're a fan.
  16. Odditties Sodomies Vol. 3
    by Ariel Pink
Burned Out Love Burned Out Love
I really don't know what it is about this record but it feels like back-to-back bangers from Ariel. As in, this could easily replace Loverboy or Worn Copy and still be 100% functional as an album. Also Burned Out Love is his best song and my favourite song of all time.
  17. Omni
    by Skin Tension
ZI4. Drain Parabola ZI4. Drain Parabola
I think this can be summed up as a monument to excess; a watershed, a warning, and a celebration of when art is taken to its absolute limits. The equivalent of masses of archival material that somehow fits together better than most metal records coming out today. If this is what Skin Tension defines themselves by, they're probably going down in history.

Assigned Cop At Birth Assigned Cop At Birth
As a transwoman this certainly ground my gears in a good way.
  20. Abscess Time
    by Pyrrhon
The Cost Of Living The Cost Of Living
I'm really not someone who throws around terms like, "terrifying," and, "horrific," especially when it comes to metal, but Pyrrhon have made a delightfully spooky and heavy record with Abscess Time. The riffs need a couple runs over to get stuck in your head but it's still probably my favourite metal record to come out of 2020.
