Alternately ferocious and sensitive, this album digs into the rhythmic and harmonic possibilities of the concertina. There's pyrotechnics, for sure (the air-button solo on To War!) but there's also a beautiful, lyrical approach to a number of slow pieces, with interweaving lines of countermelody -- he's anything but a one-trick pony. Among my favorite solo trad albums.
