"Cool Until It’s Not is a short and sweet love letter to power pop that is born from the world we live in, but refuses to be swallowed whole by its looming clouds of despair."
"Described as ‘indie rock bubblegum’, The Planes’ new EP is filled with a myriad of different sounds, from emotionally raw ballads with unique songwriting to heavy guitar-driven, energetic punk to indiepop hits."
"After a fleeting 28 minutes, it’s all over, and it feels like I have been listening to my own personal chamber music concert. Like I’ve heard something totally original and modern – a daring, innovative blend of elements that occupies its own world and is as individual as a fingerprint." start-track.com/album-lists-lp-1/
"The song starts with harsh noise before descending into something completely its opposite: an acoustic guitar with soft keyboard chords and a light lo-fi hum in the background. Later in the song, a synth lead comes alive, and along with the warm backing pad, they add a different element to the internet indie folk aesthetic." start-track.com/single-ghost-orange-creases/
"TV MOVIE manages to sound adventurous and unique, whilst keeping the same overall tone and sonic palette. It’s a delicate balancing act, but they absolutely nail it. There’s a stream-of-consciousness inventiveness and a diverse soundscape filled to the brim with melodic ideas and things you won’t hear on any other album." start-track.com/album-pine-barons-tv-movie/
It was tough to pick a favorite, but today, I’m going with ‘Billy Bonbon’, the third track on the EP. I fell in love with it almost instantly; it’s like Slowdive and Surf Curse had a child. It’s raw and nostalgic, the kind of track that feels like flipping through an old photo album: hazy, youthful, and just a little bit sad in the best way.
