This song is perfectly describes my experience of tragic optimism, which is the pursuit of goodness in the face of the horrors of the world, and which was described in The Atlantic as the antidote to toxic positivity. Ever Rising Ark reminds me that though the world has so much bad in it, we can support each other through it all, and take whatever small steps are possible for us to take towards a more just world, and that that pursuit, in itself, is worth living for.
