I think this is Sevish's best album so far. So much inventiveness and diversity! He has fully mastered xentonal music and rhythmic complexity, in a way that remains musical and enjoyable, and for my money is the leading artist in this genre (if you can call it a genre... but who needs genres anyway?). Some tracks remind me of one of my favourite bands, Ozric Tentacles - I'd never expected to make that comparison. Can't wait to hear what he does next.
  6. Someone Like Me
    by Various Artists
I just listened to the entire album while driving home from Inverness to Aberdeenshire. Most of the journey there was nobody in front of me, and this music was so relaxing and beautiful. Given the variety of artists involved and the geographical spread, it's amazing how consistent it all sounds. Highly recommended if you want to hear something like Nick Drake but not as melancholy. P. S. If you find religious content off-putting, don't worry. It's done here with a very light touch.
  7. Solarium
    by The Groovy Nobody
    Solarium Solarium
This album forges forward throughout, an unstoppable mellow psych rock machine. "Infinite Sunny Day" is a perfect description. I really like this, and no doubt will be playing it in the car some time this summer!

    Shiny star Shiny star
This whole album has a lovely wistful quality, perfect for looking out of the window onto a rainy garden. In places (e.g. Shiny Star, my favourite), it reminds me a little of Kate Bush's "Fifty Words For Snow"
  11. DAWN
    by BOREAL SUN

Pure, joyous jazz groove from start to finish. If you love The Brand New Heavies, you'll love this. DAWN runs the gamut from upbeat intricacy to lyrical passion, always technically on the button and never repetitive.

    Orbital Decay Orbital Decay
Heartbeat kicks; drums in the deep; nasal dystopian bass; dark polytonal ambience; gritty resonant synths; yowling weatherbeaten leads; reverberant glassy twists of sound; alien calling to alien across some methane ocean; endless echoes of broken digital bells.

I think that if Professor Quatermass opened the capsule and found a dark sect of Goths worshipping an ancient Lovecraftian space god, this would be the perfect soundtrack. Ominously brooding modular goodness.

Ott is one of those "ultimate ear candy" artists whose work I will immediately check out upon release. Heads is another cosmic trip through sound, brought to you from the genius who gave us Skylon, Fairchildren, Blumenkraft and others. A true master of his craft. Love, love, LOVE his work. Have occasionally emulated it... a little. :)
