This is genuinely one of the coolest albums I have heard in years. You could absolutely categorize it as chamber pop or indie folk, but that undersells the innovativeness, the depth. It's just lush and beautiful and a delight to the senses.
These guys are standouts in an increasingly crowded current wave of guitar-driven indie rock. In a space between Japanese Breakfast and American Football, but very much a voice of their own. A real contender for album of the year for me.
There are little to no albums like this out there, in the most wonderful way. Both Narvesen's jazz chops and sensibilities and her ear and feeling for singer-songwritery pop come through. A pleasure to listen to through and through.
park bird has moved over the past few years from doing pretty much pure vibes chill-out music (top tier at that!) into doing something more about tunes, vocals, composition, and I love the result.
