Nana (Like A Star Made For Me) Nana (Like A Star Made For Me)
One of the most important composers and sound designers out there. This album, though brief, is strong enough to be deemed essential listening. Beautiful!
  11. Campfire Stories
    by Alex Albrecht
Yarra Bend w. Carla Oliver Yarra Bend w. Carla Oliver
With this full length album, Alex has shown that his EPs, as strong as they were in their own right, were just scratching the surface of his explorations. This album is a product of a producer, composer and sound designer who has a vivid enough vision to arrange a countless amount of ideas together cohesively but also restraint enough to know their limits. This is easily a frontrunner for my favorite album of the year, but is also just as easily one of my favorite albums, period. Stunning work!
  12. We Were Young When You Left Home
    by Tim Linghaus
Audrey In Outer Space With Superpowers Audrey In Outer Space With Superpowers
Tim tells a story about the lovely throes of youth.

As a child of divorce, I remember feeling like a visitor at home. Joy didn't resonate like it use to and I'd find joy in places I'd never expect to, like gas-station lots and rooftops with people who understood. Those moments carried me through.

Tim evokes the heartbreak, yes, but he also captures the moments of experiencing even the slightest bit of joy after not feeling it in so long and how overwhelming that feeling can be. Brilliant.
  13. Mono
    by Simeon Walker
    Coda Coda
Simeon's playing is like breathing. It's soft...and the silence between notes feels equally as dire to the life of the music as the notes that follow. I'm eager to see Simeon's career bloom as it certainly will. Lovely work.
  14. Sanctus/Benedictus
    by Sarah Kirkland Snider
The moments of time between 3:05 and 3:55, I am convinced, is the only place I still believe in God.

As if Sarah's work couldn't be more inspiring...here we are. I am completely floored and all I can think of to say is, "Thank you." So, thank you, for every single second of this beautiful work.
  15. Endless
    by Kin Leonn
Stunning. Reminded me at times of a cross between Keiichiro Shibuya's work and Jonathan Fitoussi's.

We are trudging on whole new ground in terms of Leonn's creativity and I could not be more excited for what else he has planned this year.

One of the most exciting musicians out of Singapore...one of the most exciting musicians, period.

From beginning to end, you are immersed in this beautiful landscape Hidekazu has made. It's easy to get lost in this and it's essential that you do.
