Its hard to find another song that captures everything I love about Dungeon Synth as a genera. I can feel the sea breeze in my hair as I look forlornly out over the waves every time I hear Another World, Another Time. The rest of the album is amazing as well, Definitely one of my favorite albums across all generas.

Comme d'autres artistes de dungeon synth, Erang dissimule son visage mais, à la différence par exemple de Wyrm qui disparaît sous son corpse paint ou de Ken W qui ne se montre pas, son masque laisse entrevoir la chair. Dans Another Time Another World se met justement en place un système de double jeu. Derrière la fantaisie qui fera planer l'imagination s'immiscent des envolées sentimentales, du rock rebelle, des ambiances de jeux vidéos : c'est un journal intime. Nous vivons dans son royaume.

Erang maîtrise l'art du voyage dans le temps, ça ne fait aucun doute, mais quel dommage qu'il n'ait pas croisé le chemin de René Descartes : peut-être le philosophe aurait-il tenu en plus haute estime cette faculté qu'est l'imagination. D'ailleurs, pour prouver qu'elle est vraiment infinie, il utilise des matériaux préexistants dans Imagination Never Fails, insère samples et sonorités des années 80 et ce jusqu'à confondre le réel et la fantasmagorie. Nostalgique, apaisant, touchant et mystique !

Un autre monde, un autre temps : dans Endless Realms And Nostalgic Gods (un air de déjà -vu...), Erang est jusqu'au-boutiste, croisant dungeon synth avec musique de western. L'inclusion du chant — celui des autochtones et leur culture ancestrale, celui des colons qui veulent forger leur légende — est un vrai tour de force : loin de briser l'immersion recherchée par le genre, il renoue avec la tradition orale, ce qui nous place dans la position de l'enfant qui profite d'un conte. Merveilleux !
